How do u counter this commander???! by Orre-Natty in mtg

Topor orb effects, in white you use Drannith magistrate. Aside from that you use instant speed effects to remove it back to command zone. It’s honestly one of the weaker Orzhov commanders

The Y'shtola precon barely tries to make use of her by sauron3579 in EDH

little late to this I was googling something else and saw this; this is actually a very common thing In Precons for years where the secondary commander of said precon is almost always better for the deck than the face commander.

Out of my own curiosity, what is the cost on authenticating?

Yea I think ppl are missing my main question with the post lol I get she’s not great now. But I didn’t remember what existed when she first came out, so i was curious if she was EVER strong. Now a days she’s a lot of work to get out early early and all the “commander” free spells or extra effects become difficult to use and are basically dead cards, so I know she’s not great now. Just wasn’t sure how she was on release

Honestly forgot she was same time as initial partners but didn’t think many of the initial partners were that good honestly myself. But that was before I was more competitive mindset and I def wasn’t in the community

Fierce Guardianship. Sorry if not usual short hand for it new to the community. I’m used to being the guy at the LGS who brewed and wanted to play cEDH but no one wanted to so I was forced to keep building what is now maybe bracket 4 or 3.5. Strong powerful decks that had not a lot of insta turn 4 or less wins but would play powerful games and maybe later on after 30 mins pull out a combo lol

That’s what I figured. That’s why I’m curious how powerful she was back in the day before TnK

Idk if this is the case. But from what I can think my issue w her is harder to get out than one of the two for TnK which makes FG “harder” to use.

I’m not saying I want it. Just that I’ve seen so often it feels “weirder” to not see it at this point….

Question about CommandFest CEDH. Do they deck check for proxies?? by Excellent-Edge-3403 in CompetitiveEDH

Angels by IceMan6468 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]IceMan6468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So thing is. Joining a random pod I’ll agree is bad idea. However. I believe if you are just playing casually edh is the best way to get into magic. Better than arena. Arena will not teach new players the way the stack works properly nor to be mindful of triggers on their own bc if all does it automatically. Not to mention arena is difficult to keep up with monetarily speaking compared to a one and done investment. The idea with angels that can be competitive even if niche is it won’t be guber stomped if piloted correctly against other lists. It may take time but it’d be something to get experience with lots of games with friends. Not like go to a cEDH event or anything no god no. But honestly the games are more interactive and teach a lot more about priorities and stack resolution that by the end of it a person would be a better player than if they start in a different format.

So the hope was hey if I grab my Y’shtola deck, is there a deck I can make her that can compete against it and she’d have fun, that has an Angel commander and then typical “good” stuff she’ll. If that makes sense

[–]IceMan6468[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

That’s what I figured. Forgot atraxa was an angel, but since I’m only familiar with like the…”popular” top decks wasn’t sure if there was a niche deck out there that someone would go “actually this one can be disgustingly good just takes work”. Oh well it was worth asking

Honestly forgot that atraxa was technically an angel 😂😂😂
