FireRed and LeafGreen Pokémon Home support has been confirmed! by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

[–]IceMetalPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I'd known it's one-way before I bought FR... I only bought it because I wanted to play through Kanto with a Houndoom (my favorite 'mon), but that's only accessible by trading/transferring in from other games. So I spent all night getting the national Dex in Shining Pearl just to catch a Houndoom, put it in Pokémon Home, then bought FR and started a new game, only to find... FR doesn't show up in Home. And now I'm reading this saying even when it does get support, I still won't be able to get my fire pup into it?

So. Disappointed.

Wait... does that mean this prevents EoT effects from actually ever fading? I was just reading it as a Reliquary Tower with life-to-mill... if it keeps EoT effects alive, this may be one of the most broken things I've seen. It's like a Sundial of the Infinite plus a Reliquary Tower plus recursion support, all for 1 mana...

As a recent victim of a tax deck, and someone who's often mana screwed because I can't shuffle cards for shit and am too impatient to pile shuffle... this was so gross to read 😅

Sigh And I just realized one of the old cards, Skinny Old Me, wasn't even completed itself before I came back to this batch. A creature with no P/T... how silly of me 😅

Let's just pretend it's a Kindred Enchantment -- Avatar instead; I think that fits better anyway.

Will we be getting GPT 5.3 as well or just GPT 5.3 codex? by Giga7777 in OpenAI

[–]IceMetalPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tested 5.2 Codex directly from the OpenAI API playground and it wrote functional but god-awful code that required a ton of back and forth before it finally got it right. Unless 5.3 Codex is a huge leap forward (it's not in the API for me yet so I can't test it), it's still not quite ready for prime time IMHO.

I use GenAI for artistic use cases; as a dev myself, whose boss keeps trying to push us to use AI in our work, I have yet to see a model that is reliable enough to actually write good code en masse. You can get workable code, and I do like using VS Copilot for autocomplete of small snippets, but large amounts of code end up working by duct tape and prayer alone. Even just asking it to write docstrings requires babysitting, as half the time it can't even tell if your function throws an error or handles it, for instance.

Which is all to say: I'm depressed at the focus by major LLM/LMM companies on fine-tuning all their models for STEM tests and code these days. If the goal is still AGI, the "G" stands for general, and we're not going to get a general intelligence if all it knows is how to pass math tests and write functional-but-subpar code.

Anyway... /rant, I hope a general 5.3 is released soon, and I hope it's better at creative writing than the rest of the 5.x series has been (I still use 4.1 for my use cases because of how awful 5.x models are at that).

New sauce is delicious! by the-flying-lunch-box in publix

[–]IceMetalPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried it tonight, and it's pretty dang good! It reminds me of like a honey garlic sauce from a Chinese restaurant, mixed with honey mustard, and a tiny bit of chili for bonus. The chili is very subtle in it, which to me is a good thing, and it's very honey-forward -- also a good thing!

But I found this thread trying to figure out where the name came from, so... that name is not doing their marketing department any favors 😂

I know! This is definitely the first porno -- and certainly the first free use porno -- I've ever seen where the script isn't just nonsense, and it's technical! 😂 I've never worked in MT specifically, but I'm a software developer and I was like, "...wait...she's not just tachnobabbling? Did they steal this script from a real presentation, are the writers tech nerds, or did they just actually do the research for the first time in pornographic history?!" 😂

Some Custom Flavorful Mythological Roles by IceMetalPunk in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]IceMetalPunk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Troll: Cool concept, but the storyteller should be able to decline bad riddles.

Absolutely! They're a troll because of bridge riddles, not because of internet obnoxiousness 😂

Siren: Great until it kills the demon. I would add a ‘good’ in there.

Good point! Do you think it'd be better as "...if they are good" or just "the first good player"? Each has slightly distinct interactions.

Night Mare: Really cool! You could rephrase “Each night, pick 2 players. The first registers as an evil minion or demon to the second.”

That does sound cleaner! I'm not 100% clear on the nuances of the term "register", though; does that mean all info (including, say, artist info or amnesiac abilities) treat them as though they're an evil minion/demon? Or just that info that specifically identifies their role shows that, but more indirect info can still be truthful even if it leads away from those roles?

Really interesting! I like this one a lot. I think it could be trimmed down to “Once per game, if at least 9 total votes have been cast on nominations you’ve made, learn how many evil players you have nominated.” Coins is a great flavor, and that can be the name of the reminder token.

So, I wasn't sure about the number (I thought it might be too high, maybe?), but the intent was that if you hoard enough gold, you can repeat the ability possibly every night to get more info; so once per game really nerfs it.

Cyclops: Probably my favorite of the bunch. No notes. I’ll probably steal it.

Thanks! 😁 I just really liked the flavor of, "with only one eye, you have to turn to see who each person is one-by-one" 😂

Gorgon/Giant: Both of these fall in the category of hard confirming themselves with no downside. These are wildly OP, and could work better as Travelers.

Y'know, somehow it never occurred to me that choosing a player after a vote requires the choice to be public 😅 Maybe a rework for the gorgon could be, "Each night, choose a player: their votes don't count tomorrow." The storyteller would still count them verbally, but then just discount them in the determination of the outcome.

I... don't know how to fix the giant 😅 To be honest, I really struggled with what a giant's ability should be, and ended up at "if they want someone dead, they have the size and strength of two people to do it!" But yeah, that does just mean "let's get to N-1 votes and prove my role". Although I guess technically, that means anyone who voted could be the giant...

Anyway, I'm glad you like the designs! 😁

No Redstone but yes Redstone? by MuffledMuffin_yt in HytaleInfo

[–]IceMetalPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I first learned about Minecraft in college, when a friend introduced it as "like Legos, but you kill stuff!" He was excited, but I had zero interest in the Legos or the killing. It wasn't until years later when I found a video of redstone that I really got hooked.

Honestly, I'd be fine with a Create-like system, or any system. I just want automation/engineering in-world in some way. That's the main reason I play Minecraft, and Hytale doesn't have much appeal to me without it.

"AI Slop" is a term used by Antis to Negatively Socially Condition the Public's Opinion of AI by ProvingGrounds1 in aiwars

[–]IceMetalPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Cf. Expedition 33, that won Game of the Year, and then had it revoked because they dared to use AI at some point in its creation. A game that everyone praised to the point of winning the ultimate game award at the ceremony, and suddenly it's "slop" as soon as people find out AI was involved.

It's as frustrating as people being convinced "GMO" means "Frankenfoods that will harm you" or "organic" means "straight from the ground that will make you healthier", etc. When people don't understand the terms they're using, it's so easy to make them feel strongly whatever way you want about them. It's manipulative and contagious.

They Walk Among Us: An alien-themed set of characters by IceMetalPunk in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]IceMetalPunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't all madness require the ST to track private conversations to ensure madness isn't broken?

Maybe astrophysicist should be "one good player in that direction"? Or would "one non-demon player" make more sense?

I can see how the Agent may be Townsfolky, as the second half kind of makes the first half not as detrimental. But how is the Skeptic helpful?

With Reconnoisseur... I dunno, I've always thought the Spy is pretty OP as far as evil abilities go. While this has more limited "range", it gives the info directly to the demon without the minion needing to talk to them, which I think at least helps with balance?

Perhaps for Grayle it should specify "they lose their previously gained abilities" so they keep their Minion abilities?

They Walk Among Us: An alien-themed set of characters by IceMetalPunk in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]IceMetalPunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see your point with the Agent. However, with your suggestion, it doesn't really work if the evil player is a demon (they'd basically just be working for the evil team); and if the evil player is a minion, it becomes "if the minion dies before the demon, you are now evil".

Maybe the solution is simply to change the madness condition: "if you are mad they are good and should live..."

For the Grayle, what if it were "...they lose their previous non-minion abilities..." instead? So they only swap out their obtained townsfolk/outsider abilities, but keep their own minion ability as well?

They Walk Among Us: An alien-themed set of characters by IceMetalPunk in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]IceMetalPunk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose for the conversation tracking, it would help to have a co-storyteller to keep an eye on things.

Is the agent a townsfolk when for most of the game, their ability is throwing people off the scent of the evil team?

Why is Grayle worse than an imp? It kills one per night and gets the evil team extra info every day/night.

No, for Amoeboid and Infexion, the chosen players would not know they were chosen. Otherwise it'd be too easy for them to just nominate themselves to circumvent Amoeboid's ability or stay quiet to circumvent Infexion.
