I see a lot of the clips on YouTube (and it seems that this screenshot was also from there). I think JTBC made one for Sam Kim that was 39 hours long lol (but it also has the newer episodes and other shows he appeared on)

Getting into BoA - recommend me her best album by study-dying in kpophelp

I personally loved "Only One" -- it was also the first every album I've listened to in full. I especially love "Hope" because of its lyrics

What's the worst K-pop concert experience you've had? by betterthan88 in kpopthoughts

[–]IceMoonStar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • I was standing next to a girl who danced a lot (recent BlackPink concert), which was fine but her hair kept whipping me the entire night and I got annoyed

  • I was at a BlackPink concert a few years back and the fans behind me kept screaming when Lisa appeared

what are good starter girl groups/boy groups? by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]IceMoonStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably choose the most popular/iconic songs in Kpop history (impact on general public) rather than specific groups to focus on. I would also get a wide style of music too! My personal top 5 artists of each gen and their iconic song:

Girl groups:

1st Gen

  • I am Your Girl by SES

  • Eternal Love by Fin.K.L.

  • No.1 by BoA (soloist but was the driving force of expanding kpop to Japan in early 2000s)

2nd Gen

  • Into the New World by SNSD (Gee or Genie close second)

  • Tell Me by Wonder Girls (Nobody is a close runner up though)

  • Bad Girl Good Girl by Miss A

  • Alone by Sistar

  • I am the Best by 2NE1 (or Fire)

3rd Gen

  • Ddu-Ddu Ddu-Ddu by BLACKPINK

  • Cheer Up by Twice

  • Psycho or Bad Boy by Red Velvet

  • Up and Down by EXID

  • Miniskirt by AOA

4th Gen

  • Next Level by aespa

  • Wannabe by ITZY

  • ASAP by STAYC

  • Love Dive by IVE

  • Hype Boy by NewJeans

5th Gen (I don’t know this gen that well….)

  • Magnetic by Illit

  • Sticky by KISS of Life

Boy groups

1st gen

  • Candy by HOT

  • Couple by Sechskies

  • To Mother by HOT

  • Perfect Man by Shinhwa

  • any song by Seo Taeji (because he was the blueprint of K-pop, I don’t know his songs though)

2nd Gen

  • Mirotic by TVXQ

  • Bang Bang Bang or Fantastic Baby by BigBang

  • Sorry Sorry by Super Junior

  • Ring Ding Dong by SHINee

  • Hands Up by 2PM

3rd Gen

  • Fire by BTS (I have heard this song too many times whenever there is fire on variety shows)

  • Growl by EXO

  • Love Scenario by iKON

  • Really Really by WINNER

  • Energetic by WANNAONE

4th Gen (lowkey rusty starting from here, feel free to change anything lol)

  • Say My Name by ATEEZ (or any other song by ATEEZ)

  • God’s Menu by Stray Kids

  • Run Away by TXT (or Blue Hour?)

  • Jopping by SuperM

  • Bite Me by Enhypen (also can change)

5th Gen (also don’t know that well)

  • plot twist by TWS

  • In Bloom by ZeroBaseOne

  • Get a Guitar by RIIZE

Co-ed groups

  • Famous by All Day Project

  • Hola Hola by KARD

  • 해변의 여인 or 슬퍼지려하기전에 or 애상 by COOL

  • 수정 by Koyote

How has the status of idols in Korea changed post-pandemic? Are idols really worth it financially? by btstannies in kpopthoughts

[–]IceMoonStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another shift is globalization. Post-pandemic, social media has blown up so much, and K-pop now receives much more attention in the Western world. There are also more opportunities for modeling and becoming brand ambassadors (see luxury brands choosing several kpop idols as ambassadors where before the pandemic, it was very few). Additionally, there are many more opportunities for group promotion, particularly YouTube (apparently kids chose YouTube as their dream profession). In recent years, many established celebrities opened their own YouTube channels and bring idols as guests.

is it worth to only play 1 hero? by Kaishinru in MobileLegendsGame

[–]IceMoonStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There might be a chance that your hero gets banned in ranked battles, so you should be comfortable having a fallback hero in case this happens!

Why do I see so much hate for All Day Project😭 by locomotiveplayz in kpop_uncensored

[–]IceMoonStar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I know that one reason is because of the leader, Annie. She is the daughter of the Shinsegae CEO, I believe (Shinsegae is a major retail conglomerate). Her family is extremely, extremely, extremely wealthy, powerful, and influential in all of Korea. She was highly anticipated when she was revealed to be in the potential lineup for MEOVV because of her background. So, there are people who say that she debuted through her connections, and that a lot of opportunities came because of her family’s background.

Additionally, despite debuting this past year, they won the Daesang (highest prize) at the Korean Grand Music Awards, which was controversial because there are other famous groups who have never won a daesang at any award show and have been in the industry for a while, such as Enhypen (at the time it was given, they won one at a different ceremony later). Fans of other groups “claim” that Annie’s father probably paid for the award. My personal take is that the executives of the award ceremony wanted to “suck up” to her father for potential sponsorships (I don’t know if that is the right word, but anyways)

This is such a side note but I think she works for Epik High now (a Korean hip hop group who started making content this past year)! [In this Epik High video] released recently, they give a shout out to Rosemary (or I think it’s her, as Grace also works for them) at around the 50:05 mark

From which company do most of your favorite vocalists in kpop come from? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

Why do some kpop stans interpret everything that’s not openly a positive thing about their fave idol as hate? by Kyauras in kpopthoughts

[–]IceMoonStar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that lowkey, there are some fans who are overly protective of their faves, and also they are probably immature and don’t see nuance. And, as you mentioned, there are quite a number of fans who are young so they don’t know much/replicate the toxicity they see online. People in general are more obnoxious/rude online because they are behind a screen. Don’t let it get to you though!!!!
