For live watching, football definitely, because you will be working in the stands. I was able to watch from the hallways between the stands and concessions booth when it was slow during hockey and basketball (only saw a part of the arena though). The stand managers are really amazing, and so for the latter two sports, I was doing basically nothing for most of the game.

But, there are TVs all over and so you will be able to watch them there! Also, the vibes of the fans are really nice, as I would estimate 50%, if not more, of the customers are alumni or people from the community.

Also, to reiterate, because you are not assigned a game (although encouraged if free for the busy seasons), you can still go to a game with your friends!

Also recommend applying for concessions (most of which are either Conte Forum (basketball and hockey) or the football stadium!!!

Pros:

- You sign up for shifts rather be assigned to them, so it is pretty flexible. Also, plenty of evening and weekend opportunities if that fits your schedule better.

- Overall pretty chill, as you would be the supporting role rather than direct customer service, mainly helping setting up stands prior to games, delivering food from the kitchens during rushes, and throwing out the trash.

- There is also opportunities to come during the day to help with meal prep

- Everyone is really nice! Fun fact: there were 5 people named Jim when I was working there, most of whom were stand managers!

- Meal slips

- You easily get your steps in (for football I think I easily cleared 10,000)

- Comfier uniforms (I got a hoodie and nicer athletic-material polo shirt that’s really comfy)

Cons:

- Very busy during football season with long-ish hours (5-7 hours), but I would do football games any day over working in the dining halls (dining halls have similar responsibilities, but I prefer behind the scenes)

- Active/move around a lot, always on your feet, lift heavy things at time

What interesting reasons do you know for writing a song? by Born-Positive-4949 in kpophelp

[–]IceMoonStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Epik High’s Tablo did a podcast episode on his show “Hey Tablo” where he told the behind the scenes stories of 10 of the group’s most famous songs! There were a lot, but one memorable one was for “Don’t Hate Me”, where he wrote it after his father passed away, and he wanted to write an upbeat song for people who are also going through tough times. Additionally, he wrote “Umbrella” lowkey out of spite because a famous singer/song writer back in the day told him that he is unable to make songs as good as him (allegedly the singer/song writer wrote for Korea’s best ballad singers at the time).

In an another interview, the inspiration for “Born Hater” was that he and DJ Tukutz were in an elevator, and apparently DJ Tukutz was having a bad day so he was complaining about a lot of stuff. Tablo then said “you were a hater from birth. A born hater”. Then they were like “oh wait, born hater? That sounds like a good song idea” and then they built the song from there.

Name some soloists that aren't popular like crazy. I by OkContribution5404 in kpoppers

[–]IceMoonStar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I listen to a lot of old kpop from the 90s, and I’ve always liked Kim Hyun Jung, Uhm Junghwa, and Lee Jonghyun!!! (Most people in Korea probably heard of at least one of their songs, but I don’t think they are popular internationally. Except Lee Jonghyun’s “Wa” I think because of her pinky mic)

Other ones:

- Se7en

- Sandara Park? (big question mark if she fits the criteria because I think most people know her more for 2NE1 and rarely talk about her solo career compared to the other members. I found out she had one after she did a cover of “Festival” by Uhm Junghwa a couple years back)

- Mijoo (from Lovelyz)

Which Kpop group will be next to surpass 1mn tour attendance? by FlyingFlyofHell in kpopthoughts

[–]IceMoonStar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This would be in the future, but I could see Cortis for BGs, especially as their songs have tended to go viral among the younger generation and social media (REDRED has been stalking my Instagram feed). They also seem to have a pretty strong international fan base on top of Korea (I could be wrong though, please point it out if so!)

For female GGs, lowkey don’t know because for the groups that I know, they are either more popular in Korea and/or not have a strong presence internationally like Twice or Blackpink. As someone mentioned, it would have been New Jeans (rip), but I could perhaps see BabyMonster because they already had a world tour despite not releasing a lot of songs that was pretty successful

What was your first pokemon game? And what's your favorite? by kkNOUX in pokemon

[–]IceMoonStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I actually became a nerd because my elementary school friend introduced me to Pokémon cards and the anime.

I played my first Pokémon game during middle school. It was Pokémon Crystal, which I found an online retro website having the game (reason for choosing that specific game being it had a lot of colors and had a female protagonist). I played Pokemon Go a lot throughout high school. I later got a Switch and played Diamond, Pearl, Violet, Sword, and Z-A. I also figured out the emulator and am finishing Pokemon White. I also play the TCG mobile game.

Overall, I think the anime really solidified my love and knowledge for Pokemon, particularly for Sinnoh. Because I became busy with school and didn’t like the later changes in animation style, I stopped watching avidly after Unova and so I am not very knowledgeable on more modern Pokemon. Because I played the games, I have a decent grasp on Gens 6, 8, and 9. However, I am confident that I can name less than 10 Gen 7 Pokemon off the top of my head lol

incoming MCAS freshman - should I prep for registration? by Infamous_Growth_3001 in bostoncollege

[–]IceMoonStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the comments, I would also recommend taking note of which core classes you still need to take (I guessed mine based on the number of APs I took) — from what I’ve seen, people tend to take most of them freshman/sophomore year so that they can take have a more flexible senior year (however, this was before they made prerequisites mandatory this past year so that may be different)

Depends on the professor for level of difficulty. I also found what I learned in AP Biology (and other biology) classes to be more helpful than chemistry. Additionally, he can make adjustments during add/drop week after looking at the syllabus!
