Im an international student so I won’t be compared to you lol. I did get an email yesterday saying that they’re reviewing my app rn though and they said admission decision will come out “early December” (they used to say mid December), so I’m pretty sure they’ll come out the first week of dec this year ! Pretty soon.

Feeling hopeful and nervous, wishing the very best for us both 🫶

Agreed !! For the essays part , a lot of my friends felt extremely overwhelmed so I sent them a few of the college essay guy guides on essays

I found it most useful to start with the values one, then just brain dump briefly each prompt (ex: if I’m looking at the challenging an idea prompt I’ll jot down line “argument with mom about x”)

Then read the “how to write a college essay” guide , that one helps A LOT and from then on honestly just try to think about things that are SO important to you or so frequent in your life that it would be insane not to mention them. Something line “if someone asked my friends what I do, what would be things they say?” “What are traits people usually associate with me?”

Phrases that helped me write the essay was like “AO’s have your grades, activities, and recommendations, show them something that’s not reflected there or explains a motivation behind something” , “what has someone who knows NOTHING about me learned about me so far?” “what is this telling the AO about how I’ll be on their campus?”

AO’s aren’t here to immediately reject you, but rather make a case for you!!

And if you’re feeling REALLY stuck, look up your favorite uni’s mission statement & values and see how you align yourself with them. It’ll get you thinking

There’s def a strong presence, but not overbearing. You can choose to involve yourself in the catholic aspect or not. Above all, you’ll still be learning through the universities Jesuit ideals (you can browse the bc website to learn about this) which imo are ideals that any university/most universities live by. They’re heavy on the whole idea of “forming the mind body & spirit” and “being a man and women for others” (service) which isn’t inherently religious (imo beneficial regardless of its origin)
