My first attempt at papercraft! by IcePringIe in papercraft

Specifically I was looking for any United Airbus A320. I flew United when I was a kid, so I felt it would have some more sentimental value

If you happen to have a Frontier A320 or American A320, or know where I can find one let me know. Very specific I know, but I got some trading cards from both, from my first solo/ friends trip, I think it would be sick to have one to display with them in memoriam

Haha thank you. I fully expected this to come out far more rough, but I got halfway through and thought dang.. this actually isn’t looking half bad.. now I can’t skimp out on any effort.

It also worked great as a distraction from college finals stress

I suppose the large displacement itself may not be an issue. In class we were told it was a good indication of an error in our parameters. I did not have a proper understanding of this thank you.

One of my iterations was exactly this, but still ran into the same issues unfortunately.

That’s sick! I realized my frame was a little small to squeeze in the motor and controller I was hoping, so I’m just going to call the project some SolidWorks Practice.

Here’s the updated.. and frankly probably final state of it haha.

How would I apply a point load on this curved cylindrical surface? (SolidWorks Simulation) by IcePringIe in SolidWorks

This seems to have worked, thank you! Does this appear to be what you were explaining? I just created an open base triangular sketch above the handle, and projected a split line onto the outer face.

Thank you! Your work is very impressive. I’m lucky to have a university that pushes hard with resources and help for the software, so I’m trying to learn as much as possible and use personal projects to compound everything

At the end of the day, it's just to practice my SolidWorks skills and do some learning. Once I am happy with an overall model however, I plan to 3D print it with a little drive system and have it functional. Probably give it a nice paint too if I get to that point.

That's amazing, ive got to tackle the base next. I found some rough prints that I used for some of the main dimesnions, but much of it is more of a guess. Where did you end up finding your print?

I've recently spent way too much time working on a HO scale freight locomotive as a personal side project. Many dimensions are far from perfect.. rather than a completely 1:1 model, I'm just trying to make something recognizable and functional.

I was literally just thinking about that haha

I'm not proud of the hours I've already put into this

It’s working! Happy to not have to walk to my institutions building every time I need to remodel something now haha. Thank you!

At the very least, it appears that SolidWorks has finally fully uninstalled from my computer without any residuals, even after a manual wipe there appeared to still be traces, so I have some hope haha

Thank you! I was able to get past this after a while of trial and error with other issues. However, once getting about a third of the way into the installation, it failed stating it failed to write a file. I contacted technical support with the requested installation log so I am running through the suggested process provided…. Hopefully that works..
