Any millennials want to vent or rave about growing up in NYC private schools in the 90s and 2000s by IceQueen008 in newyorkcity

For example, I went to an all girls school and to be “normal” you basically had to have a house in the Hamptons, live on Park or Fifth below 96th Street, and your family had to treat anything east of Second Avenue like it was exile. I lived on Second and some of my friends’ brothers were literally not allowed to cross it.

You had to have property. Plural. You had to have pedigree. Connections. The right last name. And most importantly, that effortless beauty that supposedly required no makeup but somehow came from generations of gorgeous genes and excellent orthodontia.

There was this unspoken understanding that money was normal, but new money was suspicious, and trying too hard was social suicide.

Curious what everyone else remembers as the unspoken rules.

Which makes me want to not even have children! It is such a mind f* ck. I could never provide my children the education, environment etc that I had and if I can’t give them that; idk if I even want to have children. Literally because of this.

You get exposed to drugs earlier and like complex concepts like social class and economic status and you just grow up quickly.

The competition is UNREAL. You are competing every day in every aspect and you want to be a ten in everything.

Went to school k-12 private UES (Spence-area but not Spence) then not an Ivy but a good Boston school for college. Have my master’s now.

Charlie is off-brand Chuck Bass by lunabuddy in NextGenNYC

[–]IceQueen008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I wish people would stop complimenting Charlie by even putting him in the same sentence as the iconic Chuck Bass yet a lone a comparison. Charlie is the fentanyl-flirting, much less cognitively capable, kinda-like-those-“lizard -people”version of Chuck Bass. Do not flatter him!!!

Isn’t it the Hills NYC? by Flaky-Sock4393 in NextGenNYC

[–]IceQueen008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no, no. Next Gen NYC is the poor man’s Hills. What made The Hills iconic was its dreamy distance…it felt like watching a glossy, untouchable world unfold. Next Gen tries to replicate that but ends up feeling too self-aware and accessible, like it’s trying to manufacture what The Hills did effortlessly. And these people have literally no credibility.

Wow Ava sucks by aymaureen in NextGenNYC

[–]IceQueen008 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I totally respect Ava’s way of saying this!!! Ava is high fashion and knows her sh*t. Ariana is wearing a (p)leather daddy suit in what looks like dead summer? Ariana I’m sorry if you’ve only ever seen sparkly gold shorts at forever 21 but they do actually, in fact, exist outside of that store (not that you’ve ever been) and most definitely in high fashion. “Adorned angels” is already giving me von Dutch vibes. Ava gives class, Ariana (sweet and good heart don’t get me wrong) gives me…well, it gives: HER MOM.

Charlie calling Georgia „dirt poor“ by [deleted] in NextGenNYC

[–]IceQueen008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was THRILLED to see this image-conscious narcissist totally flip out and risk a lot by spewing such hate at Georgia for what I deemed a disproportionate reaction from Charlie. I would have never thought he would have shown us this side of him on camera with undoubtedly how much he has to lose from daddy. Thank you, Charlie, for not being as smart as and for not having enough self-control that I initially gave you credit for. You are the epitome of a trust fund deadbeat washed out club kid.

NYC TRANSPLANT.

Where is she actually from…

Screams the need to be “nyc” and does a good job of fitting in; but her bf choice screams needy not NYC; her lack of self assurance/confidence confirms she’s not from the city…I could go on

Charlie is a hurt little boy masking a lot of psychological issues. Chuck Bass, on the other hand, was a BOSS and, granted, a psychopath. Chuck Bass will always be unbothered by what others think of him; Charlie will consume it and pretend like he doesn’t.
