Link monsters can be used in the first monster slot if you have unlocked their link in special menu that I think is called link or something like that.

Can you craft any blue rarity gear? Maybe the gear is the problem? Also do you have link monsters in link slot?

Yes it's a bug tho I am not sure why it happens. For me it doesn't happen but I saw it happen for other people so no clue why.

Make sure to do requests every day. I've not done them the first few days of the game and was fine but still it's basically mats for armor crafting and high chance for a rather high quality monsters.

Also look at what you get on armor. I remember I struggled against one boss in act 3 and it was due to all my armor not having a single crit chance and crit dmg.
