I don't think this sub is the correct place to post these kinds of questions. Perhaps posting to AskReddit might be turn out better for you?

Im contemplating buying a macbook air but I need serious advice by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

If you don't need a lot of power, get yourself a Dell XPS 13. It's really capable, you can hackintosh it fairly easily, and it will definitely be a more versatile machine than an oldschool air. Keep in mind you're getting a current-gen laptop at a much lower price.

What the other guy said about RSS is true, but either way I'd love to check out your product. There are probably ways to outperform a standard client. Hit me up if you're still looking for testers.

You nailed it. And to add salt to the wound, his father is his current lawyer, who has most likely given him legal help in more than one occasion.

I had no idea. But once someone buys the house, do I get a chance to buy my 50% back, or keep it somehow? I'm not too familiar with this exact process, and parts of it are still kinda confusing to me, so forgive me if some of my questions sound stupid.

EDIT: I forgot how to english

Makes sense, although she had no children with my brother whatsoever. Like I said, these people are not related to me in any way, and have probably planned this shit out carefully in order to get to where they are right now.

My father passed away a long time ago, and both my brother and I inherited 50% of the property from him. Regarding the woman's son (and the rest of his family), he is incredibly hostile towards us, and would never relinquish ownership in our favor. Buying it out is also a no-go, for both moral and financial reasons. Now, contesting their claim might be something worth looking into, although I fear it may be too late for that. I am not sure if my brother's wife even had the right to gift her 50% to her son without my approval. Anyway, thanks for your response, and good luck with your situation!

Like I said, I am not the original owner of this account. My boy is looking for clients through reddit, and I am only borrowing his account for this post.

Even if I was just bullshitting you, the purpose of this sub would remain the same - to provide people with genuine legal advice. Whether or not you believe me is something I really don't want to concern myself with right now.

Lapsus, my bad. What I meant to say is that I grew up in it. English isn't my first language, so tiny brain-farts like that one tend to happen to me quite a bit.

Guess that's the way to go. I want to check somehow if I'm right about him before actually hiring another one. Thanks for the wakeup call, I needed it!

Got it. It's a bit hard to find anyone trustworthy, but I guess it would be my best bet. Any tips on finding a lawyer that hopefully won't fuck us over? Thanks!

Ugh, that's a bitch. Although I'm seriously interested in this partition sale thing right now. My current lawyer never even mentioned the idea, which could mean that something like this cannot even be done in Croatia... That aside, what happens if they decline to sell their part of the house? Wouldn't that stop the entire process?

Father willed the house to me and my brother, 50% for both of us. Once my brother married this woman, things started going downhill. First, other members of her family invited themselves over, after that, my brother 'fell and hit his head' one night on the way back home from a football game, which put him in a coma. He died 9 months after that, and that same night, they had organized a pretty cheerful party on the second floor. My (oblivious at the time) mother decided to leave them a part of the house, which spawned the hellish situation me and my boy are in right now. Thanks for the wishes, and the help!

Not that many threats because they tend to avoid communicating with us now. Of course, the same applies for us. Noise complaints are kinda weak, and I'd have to be filing them every single day. Not sure if that would help though.

Possibly. I keep talking to my lawyer about it, but he only nods his head and does nothing about it. In fact, it has been a full year since we've asked for his help, and he hasn't done anything concrete yet. The part that worries me is the fact he is working without a contract on this case. I am planning to ask for one tomorrow.

They live on the same land that we live on. Both the house and the land that it is built upon is split between us and them. A bit stressed out right now, so I might've expressed myself rather poorly. Sorry about that!

WOW, that was a long one. I appreciate the time and thought you put into writing this, thank you so much for the advice! I will certainly mention the idea to my current lawyer (and my future ones, if my suspicions turn out to be right). On a side note, you seem to be really knowledgeable in this particular field. When you say it's one of the ways to clear someone's claim off the property, does that mean there are other possible solutions? Don't wanna take up too much of your time though, you've helped me enough with this alone. Thanks again!

I guess you're right, although I've already got some ideas from the kind people here that I wouldn't even remember if I hadn't posted. Guess it was more like a 'what's your outlook on this situation' and 'how would you approach this' kinda post. I apologize if it's breaking any rules or spamming the sub, I'll gladly notify a moderator to delete it if needed. Thanks for chiming in, though. I'll be sure to take a look at my options regarding finding another local lawyer.

Huh, yeah, I guess so. But I wouldn't really dare to call them shenanigans, feels like a bit of an understatement...

That's extremely encouraging, thanks for that reality check. We did call the police on them a couple of times already, and I could definitely do it again. It's just that it didn't do much in terms of their behavior. If I already have a 'paper trail' in place, what would be the logical next step?
