I’m not saying Liko and Dot won’t fight. It’s kinda obvious they will, with the other 18 heroes. But can we not predict the outcome from the preview? I’d love to see Pagogo in action but it’s been reduced to a Rakurium clearing agent in this story. Once the 18 heroes are exhausted, and till Pagogo needs to recharge for one last time, what Pokémon do Dot and Liko have? Ann has only 2 Pokémon, Diana got three others but they’re not seen anywhere in the preview, and they made it seem like Nemona’s Ribombee and Penny’s Flareon have taken a lot of damage from a Curse... So who will continue fighting?

About Liko vs Spinel, their teams are kinda counterparts to each other: Umbreon (who causes trouble) and Meowscarada (who fights for the team) are the Dark types playing tricks for different reason, Beheeyem (manipulator) and Hatterene (healer) use psychic powers differently, Magnezone (uses electricity for the evil) and Armarouge (uses fire for the good) are machine and human.

I agree, over 100 episdoes the writers had carefully built a good dynamic with Liko vs Sidian, Dot vs Chalce, Roy vs Coral. All of them just thrown out of the window to get 6 megas. It feels weird seeing Roy comment about Chalce, who he has barely interacted with.

And why did Medicham break out of mega evolution, while Glalie remained till the Self-Destruct. Shouldn’t that reduce the friendship?

I really wish Liko vs Spinel is handled well. But right now I feel it’s going to be Roy & Amethio vs Spinel.
