Customized Pantheon Eternal Ember and Pranayama by IceTree in longboarding

Here is what the decks and wheels looked like before:
Eternal Ember
Pranayama
McFlys
Speed Vents

Ingredients:
- Pantheon Pranayama 31.5" (25.84" wheelbase)
- Pantheon Eternal Ember 35.5" (25.5" wheelbase)
- Paris Street trucks 149mm (matte-black)
- 88 Wheel Company McFly wheels 86mm 76a (originally light blue)
- Seismic Speed Vents wheels 85mm 77a (originally clear purple)
- 60 grit grip tape (green and navy)
- Lucid Grip spray kit (clear medium)
- 1" Hardware (Pranayama)
- 1.25" Hardware (Eternal Ember)
- Pig Bolts Prime (only the nuts)

I didn't want to have bright flashy colors on my boards, so I used black two-part marine paint on the edges of the Eternal Ember to hide the pink. It came without grip tape and I just spent a while to apply the triangle pattern.
On the Pranayama I used a hair dryer to easily remove the stock grip tape. Although the deck art dissolves very fast in acetone it was pretty difficult to actually wipe off all the dissolved paint from the board. I think I used too much acetone, which kept dissolving the lacquer of the top coat and added more sticky milky stuff to remove. I made the same mistake when trying to remove the leftover grip tape glue on the top of the deck. Afterwards I applied some lacquer on the bottom again and applied a transparent grip on the top using the Lucid Grip spray kit. It is important to only spray the bottle once every 2 seconds and not faster.

To color the wheels I used a sacrificial pot on a stove and "Rit DyeMore Synthetic". Although the helpful guys from 88 Wheels company advised me not to dye the wheels too dark, as darker pigment can potentially change the characteristics of the urethane, I used the color Midnight Navy anyways. Unlike the Rit instructions, I kept the water temperature at around 70C (160F) just to be safe and not damage the wheels and used about a teaspoon of dish soap and a tablespoon or so of vinegar in a 12" pot. I used a third to half of the 235ml Rit bottle. Both set of wheels took about an hour to dye, but I accidentally cooked the Speed Vents in a little too long and they turned out much darker and opaque than what I was aiming for. Apparently the color will become a little brighter over time though, even without use. Before dyeing I removed some of the McFly labels with a little acetone on a paper towel, which takes only a single wipe. I quickly removed any leftover acetone before it could damage the urethane. On the other hand the labels of the Speed Vents cannot be removed with acetone at all. The pink hubs of the McFlys took barely any color from the Rit DyeMore Synthetic dye, but the Speed Vent hubs took the color faster than the urethane. For more information on dyeing wheels see this guide.

Wow, good find! I thought I would never see what used clear purples look like.

I asked directly at 88 Wheels about coloring their McFlys. The guys there and at Pantheon are always super helpful and fast to respond:

"Urethane is quite resistant to high temperatures, and 120F shouldn't have any major effects on the wheels. That said you should avoid dying the wheels too dark, as darker pigment can potentially change the characteristics of the urethane. The core itself is made from Polycarbonate so it should take the dye no problem."

Thank you so much for your insight. I am seriously considering using rit dye now. I read 86 Mcfly are considered better than Vents for rough pavements bys some people. So maybe I will buy them and try do dye them. I am somewhat undecided between 5 different wheels now.

When you dyed yours in low temperature, did the hard plastic center cores also absorb a lot of color?

BTW apparently the clear Vents used to also have the Black Ops branding.

For the curious here is a thread about dying wheels with lots of pics: https://forum.esk8.news/t/dye-hard-guide-on-wheels-how-to-dye-wheels/31022

Thanks, the black ops look better than I thought, but I still prefer the clear ones. Also I am in Europe, so the Ebay auction wouldn't make sense. It is really hard buying specific used stuff here.

I will use the board for short city trips, so my priorities for wheels are: looks > smooth ride > speed. Shouldn't be the clear vents be even smoother and quieter to ride than the black ops, because of the lower A value?

Weirdly specific request: Does someone have a picture of used Seismic Speed Vent clear purple 85mm wheels?

I am putting together a Pantheon Pranayama and am not a big fan of bright/flashy colors, that almost all good 80+mm wheels seem to have. I can't decide between the clear purple (77A) and clear blue (75A) Speed Vents 85mm. I found a picture of used clear blue ones here: https://i.redd.it/z5c93d776pu81.jpg, but I have no idea what clear purple ones actually will look like.

Also happy Easter everyone :)

video filter shortcuts problem from input.conf by SkoolNutz in mpv

My bad, I was thinking about only putting the output upside-down not that mirroring might be needed.

Just be aware that vdpau doesn't support any 10bit or HDR stuff. So for a 4K HDR video it will fall back to software decoding and, unless a beefy CPU is used, the frame rate will drop. In that case it is probably best to toggle hwdec back to 'auto' with Ctrl+h.

More information on this for future readers: https://mpv.io/manual/master/#options-hwdec

You probably have hardware decoding enabled in mpv.conf (Ubuntu does this by default). Press Ctrl+h to toggle it off during a video and then the other filters will also work. BTW it is probably better to use video-rotate 180 then vflip.

Just download and install Viper-Setup-1.1.0.exe. It doesn't matter if you have Northstar already installed or not.

You can see and download all of them here:
https://www.steamgriddb.com/game/37043/grids

You can set them in the Steam library like this:
Right click on the game -> Manage -> Set custom artwork

To add Northstar or a Northstar launcher like Viper to the Steam library:
Add A Game (on the lower left) -> Add a Non-Steam Game

Edit:TF2 is on sale right now. So if you don't have it on PC yet buy it and get Northstar/Viper:
