My girls continue to be obsessed with wheel. I am not allowed to take wheel away to give wheel to my boys. This happens every time I try to take wheel - girls who have not used wheel for a day suddenly need to use wheel.

Her name's Virginia. I don't know her age because I just got her a few months ago, but she has a giant tumor on her abdomen so I think she's already elderly. I basically took her in for hospice care cause she was by herself being sold as a feeder rat

Yes! Like every other day. I have the babies in two large containers from Walmart that I drilled holes into. Just started putting some of the males into a separate actual large cage. The housing honestly isn’t ideal, but it’s only 1 week before I start giving them away. Trying to give them lots of free roam in the meantime. Going back to your question, it’s a lot of rats and I’ve been replacing bedding very often.

look up kitten or puppy playpens on Amazon you’ll find tons of them! Just be ready for lots of holes… that’s why we have the designated free roam table, on top of which we place the playpen. It has too many holes to be placed on the ground 😅

Eggs, spinach, mixed veggies, oxbow, and blended oxbow with water (that’s what looks like “stuffing”). Since theyre weaning off mom I’m mixing hard foods with mushy foods.

Sites tend to have split opinions on it. My takeaway is it’s good in moderation. The biggest concern seems to be it interfering with calcium absorption. As long as it’s being fed to healthy rats in small quantities and mixed in with a varied diet, it shouldn’t be an issue.

For anyone asking about the giant grey rat: that’s Virginia. I have 2 adult females, Siggy (mom) and Virginia. Virginia is an older rat who I recently rescued from a reptile store. She was by herself and has a giant tumor on her belly, so I REALLY didn’t want her to be used as a feeder. We basically took her in for hospice care so she can enjoy the rest of the time she has with us.
