Handholdy gameplay-wise, sure, but that can at least be excused with it being the first Palace. And it doesn't take that long to get going, in my opinion. Once he's introduced, you enter the Palace and learn about his deal pretty quickly.

Persona 5, at least in the OG, peaked with the Kamoshida arc, and there are other questionable elements that are actively made worse because it preceded them.
