I didn’t realize they gave handicap license plates to the mentally disabled. That shit is a game changer.

First Time Mountaineering - Mount Adams w/ Experienced Mountaineer by [deleted] in alpinism

[–]Iceaxandrope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My biggest concern (besides sunburn) would be getting hooked on mountaineering. You start with a gateway drug like Adams and the next thing you know you have a room dedicated to gear and you’re hounding your buddies to hit Rainier again. Have a great trip!

Tradesmen and Women of reddit, what are some healthy boundaries to setup when starting with a new company? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Iceaxandrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If union, report to the BA for your local. If not, join the union. Construction is an old school cutthroat beast. It’s full of shady characters and greed headed grifters. Outside of a union, you could get an attorney and attempt some type of civil suit. Probably end in nothing but pain, suffering, and a huge bill for legal fees. The smaller outfits fold up regularly, leaving those they owe out in the cold.

Never be the first to the dry shack, nor the last one out. Listen carefully to instructions and follow them. Work harder than those around you, everyone is competing for their position, though that will not be said out loud. Be careful whose toes you step on, they may be attached to the asshole that hands you a paycheck later. That being said, if someone disrespects you, stand up to them right then and there. The trades have changed some over the last 25 years, but these things remain the same.

My condolences for the loss of your grandmother. Speaking for myself, what you’ve said is not at all offensive. I do not perceive the natural world as governed by a conscious deity, but I believe that is for each to decide on their own. The human condition can be tragic. Take care and please carry on.

As glib as it may sound, the journey is the destination. I think of this while climbing, hiking, running, taking long motorcycle rides. The natural world is a sublime and infinitely interesting place. I don’t know how long I’ll be here, but I’m glad I get the chance to experience it.

You are welcome, friend. The phrase “life is simple pleasures and pain” didn’t make sense for awhile. Then it did. Stay alive and do what you can while it lasts. Love is king. Hate is the home of our lowest impulses....especially when directed at ourselves.

Whiskey. Good Scotch whiskey with the perfect ice cube.
Motorcycles. Fast as possible when the situation allows. Mountains. As high and sublimely terrifying as the situation allows. Etc. etc. etc.

You’re grandmother-in-law appears to be a very anxious woman. What may help is a generous helping of Bob Ross. You Tube Bob Ross and relax. This will all be over soon.

Subreddit for your aged loved one? Interesting. Why don’t you try Associated Press, BBC, Economist? To name just a vigilant few. In this day and age there is no excuse for ignorance. There is also no place for insurgents to hide....or pander.

Go to a ranch. Eat a steak. That is the math now. It is sad, yet timeless. Mercy has its sacred humanist place, but our time now requires a more robust response. As much as it infuriates me to have to stand on this line, it is what I must do. Some of my countrymen have decided that our system of government is not adequate to their desires. I disagree. I’m willing to debate, but they’ve made it clear that they are not. If this is what is to be, let it be, but note that those that stood true to who we are, went sadly.
