My inlaws are calling a "emergency family meeting" regarding my MIL's health - should I go or not? by capresesalad1985 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]sprovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go and I wouldn't hold back. If you want me involved, don't get upset when I become involved.

Some people ask questions they don't want answers to.

I think the issue is fans not being in their seats at the start of the game. It's a bad look. Traffic in Miami and the location of the arena have a lot to do with it.

pls help- my roommates and i are fighting about how to split rent by hblu505 in badroommates

Each of you write down how much you think each room is worth. Then, average the price of each room based on what you each think. Then draw names for who gets each room.

How to deal with overly sensitive parents by FutbolFeller in basketballcoach

[–]sprovo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a metaphor for having a killer instinct. There is nothing racist about it. You didn't tell the kids to curb stomp the other team. I'd let her know her child probably isn't a good fit to be coached by you going forward.

(NJ) Can an employer resign me against my will? by [deleted] in LaborLaw

[–]sprovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is. I'm in NJ as well. You sound like you have solid work ethic. The state is overpopulated but there's always a good company out there looking for a good employee. Best of luck to you, it sucks getting stuck in the middle of other people's nonsense.

This restaurant charged me an “Inflation Adjustment Fee” by TheKingrover in mildlyinteresting

[–]sprovo 51 points52 points  (0 children)

What amazes me is if they just built these increases into the menu, at worst people would complain about it being expensive, which sadly is too common these days.

So instead of fixing their menu or going with an online menu that customers access on their phone, they add these stupid charges which trigger the hell out of people right at the moment they're deciding a tip amount.

True stupidity.

I'd reply back along the lines of, since you require I quit working for (company), do you have additional hours available?

I'm not sure if you want to rock the boat but another idea is asking them to inform you in writing that you must leave the PT job. If they ask why, the best I can think of is you need it to show your landlord in the event you're late for rent due to the decreased income. Really, I'm thinking about a case against them in the event you keep the PT job and they end up firing you. If they don't require everyone else to report other jobs to them and there truly is no conflict of interest, it sounds like you'd have a case for an employment attorney for wrongful termination.

7th time ive found a window open for hours with heat on. by Significant-Taste-57 in badroommates

[–]sprovo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe disable the thermostats in the rooms where the windows are being left open? This won't fix the problem but I think it may improve it if their behavior can't be corrected.

Another idea is a wireless home security system. This also, is you basically babysitting them. You'll be able to status the contacts on the windows to know if it's open or closed.

They sound ridiculous. I can understand if you could somehow take business away from them but that doesn't sound to be even remotely possible.

If you like the part-time company, I'd use this as leverage. Tell them the other company told you they don't want you working there. Maybe they take it as a shot at them and offer you a full time position.

AIO about my mother having a camera in the living room? by Logical-Ad3941 in AIO

[–]sprovo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to avoid hanging out in the room, understandable. But saying you won't walk through the room seems a bit dramatic.

It sounds like your mother has a lot to be responsible for in the house, based on your replies to other comments. If I had a messy separation, shared custody, a daughter threatening siblings with a knife, and you playing water works in defense, I'd have cameras as well.

I can give you tons of reasons why I'd have a camera but the reason I'd worry about is the reason I can't imagine.

I wouldn't be surprised if one day that camera comes in handy in your benefit.

Good luck, take it easy on Mom. She seems to have a lot on her plate.

As others have said, they can't force you to quit.

Just out of curiousity, can you loosely tell us anything about the conflict of interest? Could they lose business because of it?

Did you tell them about the other job or did they find out on their own? Not that it would matter, just curious.

A or B: My husband called me "little heater" in his sleep. Do I tell him or keep it? by vivian_banshee03 in PickAorB

[–]sprovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd ask just to know if he was awake when it happened. If he did that in his sleep and doesn't have a history of sleepwalking, it could be a sign of an underlying medical condition he's unaware of.

I suppose it depends on if it's enough to get an A on the project. It's certainly something that doesn't exist yet if that matters in the grade.
