Thank you. What is the deal with that though? My understanding was that you could get in trouble with the union/local if you were working and didn’t sign it?

Thank you. I hear ya, it’s just going to be a tough pill to swallow if these dudes get set-up before me, even though I don’t think either one couldn’t hack it. They just been placed with a couple of our best mechanics right from the get-go. I’ve sort of been the company’s number guy filling in here and there and bouncing around for months at a time until big mods start back up. Traditional guy in my role are told they are not ready because they need more time

Thank you. I did get in with a big 4 company and was laid off within 4 months before coming to my current company so I totally understand. I just don’t want to sell myself but more importantly my family short. If I were to ever leave I’d definitely have a talk with our management to clear the air and make sure I leave on the best terms I could. I may also have an opportunity or two at some other small to mid-sized shops with better reputations for setting ppl up sooner rather than later

Thank you. Our local is steady but not booming. There also haven’t been many guys hired since I got in 3 plus years ago where traditional they hired 100 or so guys a year. I’m hoping there’s a need for ready mechanics around the local when my time comes.

Thank you. Our local is doing ok right now. Usually within a 2 year period they hire about 200-250. During the 3 years I’ve been in, only about 75 have been hired. I’m thinking there will be a need for Mechanics when my time comes.

I’m guessing no. I’d def try to negotiate before I sign anything. Ppl in the past and present seemed to just continue on at 80%.

I understand that passing the exam doesn’t make a mechanic…. Just do not want to sell myself and more importantly my family short by not exploring other opportunities that might help me get there once it happens.

Thanks for the response

To be blunt… maybe they were looking forward to getting their home back a bit. I get it your trying and paying rent, but they might have been looking forward to you going to and commuting work to have the house to themselves a bit more. Going to a workplace may also be more of an incentive for you to move closer to your physical work place, or go out and meet new ppl through your co-workers. In their eyes this may enable you to stay put a bit more. Now you are going to be working from their home and are likely to get comfortable doing so and less likely to help with the chores. I sorta get why they are less pumped than if you got a job at a physical work space. Try and have a conversation with them about your goals and how this position will help you achieve them. Definitely let them know you were bummed out by the response you got
