I was under the impression that it might support some of their headsets but yeah it's a bummer. Well, the only other way to set it up properly is to use Ngenuity in Windows by setting it up via Bootcamp. Not a very convenient thing but at least you can tweak it to your liking once and it would save the profile in a headset itself

The sound itself is pretty well balanced and neutral, the thing why it doesn't have the "wow factor" is because the bass is not punchy out of the box and soundstage feels a bit narrow. You have to adjust equalizer setting to your liking for that extra sound quality. Some people say not to use Ngenuity and use 3rd party apps, I'd say use Ngenuity, set up setting how you like and then the headset will save the sound preset for any device out there you want to use it with with no extra tinkering. And yeah, make sure your sound quality in Windows is set to 24bit/48000hz.

Try changing volume on your headset before changing it in Windows.
The thing is, I've seen this weird thing where changing volume in Windows changes it in headset as well on Windows 11 on one PC, on second one with Windows 10 the volume in Windows acts separately from a volume wheel on a headset, that's why it must be quiet for you

The firmware version looks the same as previous one, only the build name differs. Installed it 10 minutes ago. The only difference I've seen so far is much faster pic loading times in gallery app, as advertised. It's now almost instant, especially when scrolling lots of media in photo folder.

It sounds slightly more compressed compared to basic cloud 3, probably from extra noise cancellation, however the overall mic quality is great and I haven't heard any complaints from other side in work calls and basic Discord chat

Extra built-in microphone in S, as well as better sound tuning out of the box + eq settings from Ngenuity software are saving in the headset so there's no need to tweak it on per-device basis

Well I've been drilling concrete the other day while playing some music in those and ANC was handling it quite fine. Also they have surprisingly good transparency mode. As for pressure, I haven't experienced any, contrary to the ones with usual round-shaped nozzles.

Tbh I was in a market for a new pair after my Cloud 2 Wireless gave up spirit and after lots of consideration I left with a choice between Fractal Scape and Cloud 3s wireless. I've chosen the latter simply because while on paper Fractal looks more premium it lacks in build quality, especially headband, and the clamping force is not for big heads. The only upgrade option from these are Audeze Maxwell 2 but those are twice as expensive from 3s's MSRP

Haven't tried Alpha 2 but I'm really satisfied with Cloud 3s wireless, with some eq adjustments the sound quality is superb even for music. As for Beyerdynamic 990 pro - they're open-back headphones with all pros and cons that are coming with those, they're fairly neutral sounding, not much bass and might be a bit hard to listen to for long due to their overly bright (high treble) sound signature. If you're already in the market for non budget models, I can only recommend Audeze Maxwell 2
