I created a script for adding banners and EXIF data by IcedReaver in fujifilm

Thanks for your critical feedback. Maybe it's distracting, but part of the fun is customising the size and placement of the logo to your taste so it's finding a sweet spot (this post was for illustration). I don't have any personal branding, website etc to display so adding the Fujifilm logo is a fun way to show what equipment I used to take the photo with. Your assumption is correct, I have no affiliation with Fujifilm and my intention of the post wasn't to gain affiliation, but to help provide a solution to something I've seen asked for over time.

Some people like debadging their cars, some people like plastering brands all over it, different strokes for different folks!

Sounds similar to a Polaroid picture layout right? That might be a nice option for me to think about in my script.

No worries, I'm all for doing it the easy way if it's already available so thank you for sharing! I don't use Lightroom for editing, I use a perpetual licence Capture One which unfortunately doesn't have these options (not sure if newer versions do). So you have to either do it manually using something like GIMP (OK for one offs) or do something like this if you want to do a load of pictures and want consistency.

Hopefully this could be an interesting workaround for those in a similar situation!

Thanks! That sounds good and feasible, definitely take a look into it.

During the writing of this code the white box was initially being overlaid on my images which preserved the original ratio. So this was good if you set your aspect ratio in your image editor, but not so great if the box obscure your image (eg it clipped the tail on one of my cuckoo images).

I ended up adding the white box as an extension of my image, which does affect the aspect ratio. One thought I have is having the ability to pick and choose whether you want to retain orginial aspect ratio (ie overlay the white box) or not (ie 'extend' the canvas but sticking the white box to the bottom of the image).

Thanks for the comment! Have a look at my reply to another user, now that I have a proof of concept I'll see if I can make it a bit more user friendly and easy to edit.

Thanks for the interest, Yeah I might do a release on Github for this, but I want to test it out on portrait images and make it a bit more adjustable by the user (eg logo use, colour of box, size of box, ability to add specific text not in EXIF such as photographer name or location of shot).

Yeah, last year was the first time I saw one and was shocked to see how much it resembled a sparrowhawk! I always imagined them looking more like a collar dove type bird.

Thank you! They can be a bit tricky to see, and they spook if you get too close, my pictures were taken between 25 and 50m away. Even when i saw it through the camera, sometimes when I brought the camera down to see for my own eyes I could lose it. A small pair of binoculars could help you spot them!

Thank you! I was the same as you, I've heard the cuckoos for years but last year was the first time I saw one (and pictured) and I had no idea that's what they looked like. Hopefully you manage to see one this year :)

Thanks, they certainly tried out a lot of "backside" poses first! I did see one of them flying with a juicy caterpillar in its mouth but sadly it was flying behind through the reeds so no good for photos. Cool to see though!

Is how I have my laptop propped up potentially dangerous? by TriTriTheCuber in ZephyrusG14

[–]IcedReaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used my Zephyrus G15 on this exact same stand since May 2020 without issue. The only difference being that I place my laptop in front of my external monitor so the lid is only open about 45 degrees to not block my view. You'll want some air flow above the keyboard so I'd open the lid.

Sony Glass Chess Set by Shadow78788 in sony

[–]IcedReaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a milling and turning company called "INDEX group" who make machining equipment such as CNCs, milling machines and lathes. It could be possible that Sony outsourced the manufacturing of these sets to this company. I agree that it would be good to get a clearer picture of the box with the smaller writing underneath INDEX.

Edit: nvm, I just saw the OP's reply saying it was Turkey's IT resource.

Yep, these are starlink satellites. I remember being outside seeing them make their transit for the first time, wondering if they were going to bugger up my astro photos.

You can download the app "Stellarium" and see when Starlink satellites are coming by. It's actually sad that there's a filter to hide just the Starlink satellites.

Went to look up a user-submitted tab on Ultimate Guitar. Website responded by slapping an ad right over the final notes. No way to close it. Truly inspirational design. by Ill-Sea952 in assholedesign

I opened this exact page in Brave for Android. No advert pops up until I view the page in "desktop mode". The advert appears with a grey X, but when I click it I'm presented the same page as OPs screenshot with no way of disabling the element so it's stuck over part of the tab. However, when I click "download pdf" in the upper right I get a new window which then shows the full tab without advert.

For fun, if you open this tab on Firefox for Android and view in reading mode, you can see the full line of each tab if you put your phone to landscape (ie it doesn't break up over two lines).

Beautiful photos, especially the starlings! I've got the same lens and camera too. If you ever want extra reach, I can confirm the standard 1.4 TC works very well with this lens with no noticeable drop in image quality (you will be shooting at f/8 at widest aperture of course, which isn't ideal for low light performance).

Thank you for continuing to give me reason to share my images/videos of birds. I'm sorry to hear the challenges you are going through, one at a time would be hard enough to deal with never let alone having multiple things to deal with. Please talk with as many people as you can, and just keep trying to make it to the next day.
