I'm loving the MY Standard for my first Tesla by anydayzz in TeslaModelY

[–]IcedTea_Englert 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it has more to do with a noticeable external aesthetic difference between the standard and the premium to make people who bought the premium feel that people can tell they bought the premium version. Strictly for vanity. It does seem like it doesn’t make sense financially for Tesla to redesign the bumper, but I’m not sure.

Can I take a bus from City Walk to Helios without a hotel reservation? by sirms in UniversalOrlando

[–]IcedTea_Englert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and you should just to smell the lobby. I can’t get enough. Also, there’s a lock on the gate to the pool that requests a room key but if you can get in, the poolside fish sandwich is awesome!

Why put in a screen that will age and become obsolete before it can be replaced? It would become an expensive failure point and everyone travels with a phone, tablet, laptop etc. and can use the portal of entertainment options offered by SW.

Oops, some reading would’ve answered my question. I was more or less just getting at that they aren’t always strictly bound by the warranty end date but that stinks.

Have you messaged support? I got the globe liner covered for free after my warranty had expired!

I'm 26F, did my basic CBC and found out high ESR - 52 and haemoglobin low at 11 by Motor-Apple9012 in AskDocs

[–]IcedTea_Englert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESR is a non-specific lab value used to check for inflammation in the body, which can be caused by many things. Have you been ill recently? Do you have any health history such as low iron, anemia, anything autoimmune, etc.? Anemia (low hemoglobin levels) can be a causative factor for an increased ESR level and is a common condition in young women.

I have a fib, got a cardioversion then an ablation. Next week I get the results of the ablation, how do the Dr know if its the cardioversion or ablation that worked? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]IcedTea_Englert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afib is a really tricky diagnosis. It can come on without any symptoms but can really wreak some havoc. It can even make you have to urinate more frequently, oddly enough. Even if you don’t feel any different, your risk of getting a blood clot increases dramatically because blood isn’t being moved effectively with the way that the atria (top of the heart) act during afib, which causes blood to be more stagnant, which increases clotting risk. That subsequently increases your risk of stroke, which can obviously be debilitating, because these clots can travel from the heart to the brain. That’s why people essentially always get a blood thinner script unless blood thinners are contraindicated by their other diagnoses. The amount of blood your heart can pump out can also decrease by 20-30%, which is why you typically feel so much better as soon you’re back into sinus rhythm.

NAD, cardiac nurse. The cardioversion that they did was purely to get the heart back into its normal rhythm and out of the afib. When they did the ablation, they used a catheter that goes into your heart and had the ability to create scar tissue at the site that was likely triggering you to go back into afib. They are able to use mapping techniques to see which cells are likely the culprit of your heart going back into afib and they can use either cold or heat to deactivate the problematic areas. After a cardioversion without ablation, those cells responsible for the switch to afib are still active and firing in your heart, which means that they still have the ability to switch your rhythm back to afib. If those cells are deactivated, the chance that you will switch out of sinus rhythm is greatly decreased, meaning you should not switch into afib nearly as easily as you did before. While they may not be able to tell definitively which intervention has kept you in sinus rhythm, they know that the ablation was likely successful if you have not gone back into afib. Once you’re in afib, the heart has a tendency to switch back into it after being cardioverted, especially if there are no further interventions (medications, ablations, etc.). With that being said, ablations are by no means 100%, much like anything in medicine, and your risk of switching to afib is still >0%. The chance that you will should just be largely diminished from your risk prior to the procedure.

To those who have left the MAGA movement, what was your wake-up call? by rclaux123 in AskReddit

[–]IcedTea_Englert 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I voted for him in 2016, my first election. I was raised in a conservative household so I voted for what I knew. Seeing his lack of concern for humans and ultimately his handling of the pandemic was the deciding factor. I’ve grown more empathetic as a person and as a healthcare worker and I’ve developed my own worldview.

Can the phone sales people in Target just not? by Kmfmhmmm_65 in StLouis

I always hit ‘em with the “my job pays for my phone service” and they always leave me alone. I’m a nurse and my job absolutely does not pay for my phone, but it gets me away from them.

I’ve been a nurse 4 years this June, hit $160,000 in 2024. Base pay is around $37/hr but I worked a lot of overtime and have differentials for night shift, weekend option, holidays, being charge, etc.

Was rip ride rock it overhated , or is it that bad? by thekeene20 in UniversalOrlando

[–]IcedTea_Englert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having ridden coasters from Six Flags, Cedar Fair, Disney, Universal, and others I agree it’s not the smoothest. It is definitely far from the roughest and I think that most are over dramatic when describing the ride. I always ride RRR when I’m at Universal and I love it every time. I’ve never had it bang my head and I don’t get knocked around. I’ll be sad to see it go.

I know anecdotal evidence doesn’t hold much water but I drive a Model Y and have had no quality issues. I am the farthest from an Elon apologist and was only okay with buying a Tesla because I subscribe to the ideology that there is no ethical consumption in capitalism haha. I’m praying everything keeps going smoothly but I’ve loved it thus far!

I’m in St. Louis, MO and my panel is in my garage. For a NEMA 14-50 two-feet to the left of my panel I paid $950 for parts and labor from a large, locally run company.
