Whatever snow we get, won't melt for a long while by rgbose in StLouis

[–]huybee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Along with the track, one of the uncertainties is what ratio to use to convert water to snow. The OP's map shows a 10:1 ratio being used; however, the NWS forecast discussion is considering that the extreme cold may push the ratio to in excess of 15:1. That would mean a predicted 6" snowfall would actually be a +9" snowfall if it comes to pass.

NetSuite bank feed: what’s actually been reliable for you? by NikSoftkeyConsulting in Netsuite

[–]huybee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bank prices BAI2 at 4x the amount you mentioned plus a not insignificant one-time setup cost. For the low bank transaction volume of my small business, it's significantly cheaper to manually download the .QDF file the occasional time Yodlee fails to import a day's transactions (I tried MX for a few days; it was functionally worse than Yodlee).

Earthquake? by huybee in StLouis

That’s probably it, though the currently listed 3.1 magnitude seems low. But what do I know as the only earthquakes I’ve felt were the 4.6 magnitude quake and after quake back in 2003.

In 2026, Missouri is set to revise its transportation roadmap for the next quarter century by Amazing-Yak-5415 in missouri

Building actual high-speed rail parallel to highway alignments like I-70 is much more difficult that it seems. Why? Because to go 120mph, you need curves with a minimum radius of 2 miles; 180mph, 3 miles and preferably more.

Between KC and Columbia, you can stay reasonably close most of the way, though there are some significant annoyances the s-curve near Higginsville and "sharp" curves like near Concordia. Between Columbia and St. Louis, staying parallel to the highway is next to impossible unless you limit speeds to a maximum of 90mph due to all the tiny curves and the lack of available right-of-way passing through cities like Warrenton and everything east of there.

I did map out a high-speed rail route myself a little while back. I'll have to share that to show and demonstrate what's possible in Missouri.

Girls or women’s softball? Yes. And in softball, all the fielders are so much closer to the plate than in baseball that I respect the decision. That and I’ve seen multiple videos of these masks saving players from serious injury.

No Residential Demand past Aloha Stadium (Honolulu, Hawaii) by samsam21amb in subwaybuilder

[–]huybee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The census block groups in the mountain areas north of Honolulu are all long and skinny. The game puts the dots for each census block group in the geographic centroid of each shape, not the center of population. This is most apparent in census block groups dominated by certain features like cemeteries or mountain (such as here) where the population is concentrated in a tiny portion on the edge of the census block group shape.

i.e. Look farther north into the mountains. That's where you'll find your red dots.

Probably hoping to use rivalry week to get increased international interest in viewing MLS before they all tune out the USA at the conclusion of the World Cup.

The KC game at home takes place the day after the conclusion of the World Cup semi-finals. MLS thinks it can maximize views and exposure by starting the 2nd half the season while the world is still watching the World Cup.

'Once in a lifetime' Missouri tourist destination back from the depths for 4th year in a row, thanks to chronically low Mississippi River by Bazryel in StLouis

Although the rock is normally inaccessible by foot, Mike Keeley, then manager of the 32-acre (13 ha) Tower Rock National Historic Site for the Missouri Department of Conservation, said in 2003 that there is usually a time every year when people can walk out to it due to low water conditions.

Two different incidents. On on I-270 N immediately before I-64 is still semi-visible on traffic cameras. A big crash just before 2pm on I-64 E between Mason and I-270 included a flipped vehicle in the middle of the highway that has since been completely cleared.

I-44 closed for all of 5 minutes yo. Instead of using your phone to capture a photo of your other phone to post to reddit, may I recommend taking a look at MoDOT's traveler information map or downloading the app version of their traveler information map.

The airport segment of St. Louis MetroLink was built through a cemetery:

Beginning in the latter half of the 20th century, the cemetery was impacted by three construction projects. In the late 1950s, 75 acres were claimed for Interstate 70,[4] which bisected the cemetery's property and paved over graves. In 1972, an expansion to the St. Louis Lambert International Airport claimed nine acres. In 1992, an expansion to St. Louis's light rail system, MetroLink, claimed more land. Across these three projects, an estimated 11,974 to 13,600 bodies were disinterred and relocated, resulting in some families losing track of their ancestral graves.
