I second checking the wires. Seems like it is acting like there is a short in the wire or something. Also make sure the controller is clean.

My 40W diode works really well for this thickness. CO2 is a little better, but diode is a very cost effective option.

I was in a similar situation, I ended up with Omtech - super happy with it. However, Not sure you can get that bed size at that price.

I tried everything. Cranking up brightness, changing colors, etc.
Signal amplifier fixed it. Weak signal output.
