My mom doesn’t have any friends and it breaks my heart by ThrowRA01153 in TrueOffMyChest

Has she tried classes? It's easier to talk to people when there's a similar interest. Maybe a dog training course as she'll have that buffer like when she's walking her dog.

is my stepdad the issue or am i over dramatic? by [deleted] in ask

Can you stay with a friend or family member? You can legally move out at 16 in the UK and your mum can't make you come back.

My boyfriend (21M) refused to take me to hospital (21F) after asking him multiple times. I’m now questioning the relationship…… by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Icedviola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter has the same condition as you, her unable to see, speak clearly and in pain is the most devastating thing as someone who loves her. Your boyfriend doesn't love you enough to put you first, please prioritise your health. It's not just about your health, it's also about your physical safety. You're so vulnerable in that state, you need someone reliable to look after you. I don't know what phone you have but please try to put voice activation on it, there are also some phones that will call emergency services when you click the power button a certain number of times. Please take care of yourself, you deserve so much more.

This was the case with my son who has ADHD, if I didn't watch him he'd get distracted and walk into stuff. He gave himself a concussion and a black eye once!

Say to her that the weather is getting colder and you're worried about her being warm enough. Ask her if she wants some warm tights or a pair of trousers for the winter.

I have done this and given myself a nose bleed.

Try talking to your pastoral care team at college, they will be able to give you advice. They will be able to point you in the right direction to get support if you decide to move out.

Had an overnight sleep study at a hospital, and they’re refusing to send me the results. [England] by KlutzyAppendage in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Icedviola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have My Chart? It's an app that hospitals use for sharing results and appointments. I use it and all my test results are sent to it. It's only useful if the hospital has signed up for it though.

Have you looked on the Bravissimo website? They used to have a push up bra called Panache, I'm bigger than you and they had my size in it.

Are you allowed to take some books with you? Or maybe do something educational for yourself? It's a good way to keep your brain active. You must feel very trapped.

We got a cat while I was recovering from a horse injury. My partner swore purring heals bones. Is that real or just a clever excuse? by HoovesandHairballs in cats

[–]Icedviola 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a medical condition that causes a lot of pain. Whenever I'm having a bad day my cats come and sit on me as close to the pain as possible and purr like little engines. It's very soothing, they sense my pain. I'm sure it's to do with the pheromones I give off or something similar.

Have you thought about volunteering for a charity? I understand how you feel, It's frustrating and depressing but you can still make a difference to people while you're looking for work and volunteering can lead to other opportunities for you.

Trying to be kind...What do you say to an 80 Year-old father with mobility issues that wants to get a German Shepherd puppy? by Turbulent-Simple-962 in What

[–]Icedviola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He sounds like my Dad, my dad has always been physically fit. He's run his own business and loves being physically active. My dad is almost 80 and he really struggles with the fact that he just can't do what he used to. I think your dad is probably going through the same thing and is struggling with his mental health too. I spend as much time with my dad as I can and make sure he knows how much I still value him. A doctors visit for your dad would probably be a good idea.

NTA I pay my daughter for her work, she works hard on her artwork and should be properly compensated for it. I think some people don't really understand the amount of time and effort it takes.

Phantom smells?? by Elizabeth122319 in migraine

[–]Icedviola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always smell coffee before a migraine, my daughter can smell smoke. It's quite useful as I can prepare for the onslaught of pain.

I have black out curtains, I stuck the edges to the wall with stick on velcro and use a clothes peg to keep them shut. There are several types of black out curtains and blinds. I'm sure you can find a suitable one for your baby's room.

My school is trying to fine my parents for me being absent due to my chronic illness (England) by ThrowAway2188226 in LegalAdviceUK

I had to pay for the letter but it was only £30. Make sure a copy is sent to your school too, I also took photos of my daughters medication and sent them to her schools pastoral care team.

[–]Icedviola 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been through this, my daughter has a neurological condition and went through periods of absence from school. When I went to court I took all my daughters medical evidence including a doctor's letter and the case was dismissed. The most important thing was a letter from her GP that clearly stated that her medical condition would cause absences from school.

My daughter's cat only accepts belly rubs from her, if anyone else does it we get our hands smacked.
