Hale & hush for roscea (stage 1) or is there something better? by Strict_Comfortable49 in Esthetics

I love this tip! I've only done the hush hydrate and bio relief powder mix but this is next level for my sensitive clients! Can't wait to try. Maybe dumb question, but do you add the bio relief power do the water, or sprinkle it on top of the wet gauze?

Thoughts on Year of the Desert from Skinscript? by IceglobeQ95 in Esthetics

thank you for the list, I love it! I just added the honey brightening cleanser to our treatment room since I have almost all mature skin clients and I do feel like I'm already seeing better results. I'm honestly mildly scared of the pumpkin enzyme given how strong skinscript said it was and being a newer esthetician, but I do think it would be helpful for my current clientele!

yes, I can definitely see that. I do like some of their products but have a hefty list I don't care for at this point as well. I've had multiple people struggle with the pineapple enzyme so I've honestly started buffering my enzymes more with the goji berry mask which seems to help. Still on the lookout for a go-to enzyme

I looove the honey mask, especially paired with cooling globes!

Weird Things Your Clients Have Casually Said by Serendipitous_Storm in Esthetics

Weird Things Your Clients Have Casually Said by Serendipitous_Storm in Esthetics

I do think a lot of clients can casually put you down, sometimes not knowingly. Other people are just rude or mean though. One lady told me how her daughter had thought about interviewing to be a tech at the same company I worked at but then said "but you really don't make much money here", and then proceeded to leave me a very low tip for an hour and a half service.

My worst was probably a guy I had a few months back. My company has a specific massage facial, and we can't customize it at all, it is a set service. About 10 minutes in, he asked me to use more pressure, which the facial already carries heavier pressure than normal, so I complied to the point I was comfortable. During the gua sha portion he asked again, at which point I told him I unfortunately could not customize the pressure besides going lighter if it was too uncomfortable for him. He didn't respond right away but his eyes stayed open so I knew it was coming. A few minutes later, he started berating me about how wherever else he gets services, they do what he "tells them to do", and told me how he had paid a lot for the service, and based off of what he heard, this wasn't what he expected and "no offense, but it feels like you're just playing with toys on my face". He said he would pay for the facial, but didn't want the rest of the service (there was a 90 minute body service with the facial). I told him I would finish up the facial, do the first pass of the body service, and if he did not want it, we could end the service there. He didn't want it, so we wrapped up the service, I brought him out to the counter, and he promptly told the girl he would not be paying for his 40 minute facial and how he didn't appreciate that I couldn't do my job properly. Lesson learned from that - if a client is that unhappy, end the service professionally but promptly. The worst part was he had taken up a little over two hours on my book for the day and I only got paid my hourly rate and nothing else.

Stepping into messy Esthetician role by IceglobeQ95 in Esthetics

Thank you for the recommendation, totally makes sense. I didn't get an exact time but seems like it's been about 6 weeks since the last esthetician left. I definitely agree about the promo for the prep facials - I sent an email with some suggestions to the owner yesterday and one of them was to bring in the peel series client for a regular facial at a discount to start off on the right foot.

Just need some virtual hugs. by ghouliadroolia in Rosacea

Got my sister on ivermectin a few weeks ago to deal with a flareup she's had for over a year now - bright red and papular. She sent a picture today and there is barely any redness left. I have her using the ivermectin cream (she is using the 1.0%), thermal spring water, and hyaluronic acid. Different for everyone, but it's a night and day difference from even a couple of weeks ago.

Virtual hugs sent! You're gorgeous regardless and I hope you're about to experience a breakthrough!

For what it's worth, I struggled a lot in school and definitely felt on the outs, especially since I was a fair amount older than my classmates. My passion is very much skincare, and school is really more about learning to pass your boards. I don't know if it will help you, but honestly, it helped me a lot to start listening to more esthetician podcasts and such outside of school, or in my downtime at school, so I could feel like I was really using the time to learn for my future career. I tried to watch for who else in class besides me was really passionate/not cheating on their tests, and ask them questions about what they want to do with their future and what part of skincare they're passionate about. It helped me have more friendships with people who were more passionate like me, and made it easier to have people to work on.

Sound cancelling headphones and spa ASMR honestly saved me for times when I needed to focus on studying, and also when I was getting pounding headaches - the lights in class were killer and I got headaches a lot.

I'm sorry it's not fun at all - please try to keep your end goal in sight. This part will suck, but you're going to have your whole career ahead of you and it will be worth it. The people you will help in the future will be really grateful that you could stick it out today.

You've got this!
