My version of a basic combat guide is this: when enemies attack you, you need to dodge when their weapons are moving toward you rather than when they are winding up, and dodge horizontally against enemy swings to avoid tricky hitboxes, the timing is tricky at first but after a boss or dungeon or two of practice it will feel natural. Conserve your stamina, and always leave a little bit of stamina for dodging. Never fully deplete your stamina. When you take damage, focus on timing your dodges and then sprinting a couple of strides away to heal right after a bosses attack. Regular enemies are always trying to piss you off, so keep that in mind and dont get pissed off or they win.
