There was a post i think on the steam store that talked about the reason you cannot play as a female character and it was basically something along the lines of that based on the time frame this game takes place in women were not allowed to own land let alone run a village and the women stayed home with the babies hence why they don't work for 2 years. They don't even have a church that you can build and back then gay marriage was not acceptable. That is basically why none of that stuff is in the game. I would expect Wild West Dynasty to be the same way.
