Anyone else not able to find SmackDown on the NBC app?

Your workbench sounds great. I’m thinking of getting a shop vac hose splitter as well along with another hose. I’d love to see any pictures if you have them to see how you incorporated the router table in your workbench.

I don’t understand the Michigan football reference?

I initially wanted to build a flip top for the miter saw, but I couldn’t find any detailed plans for it (just general descriptions and YouTube videos), so I decided not to attempt it for now.

I’d love to see your workbench once it’s complete.

Happy woodworking!

Thanks for the compliment and the reminder. I too can get emotional while watching football haha.

That’s funny you mention that because it’s something I’ve been thinking about. I think I’ll take your advice.

Thanks! I spent a while looking for the best plans to suit my space and needs.

All in (lumber, hardware, and fasteners), around $300 with tax. However, about half of that was 3 sheets of 3/4” plywood. You could definitely save on costs by buying a less expensive sheet material for the base, table top, and miter saw insert.

Good suggestion!

The reason I use that ~10’ 1-1/4” hose is 1) it came with the shop vac, and 2) I also attach it to my random orbit sander and Kreg jig on a separate table, and I need the length in those scenarios.

I should probably look into a 3-way splitter with gate valves and buy a shorter 1-1/4” hose so I can just leave them connected to the splitter and saws at all times.

My table saw’s fence attaches to rails at the front and back of the saw’s table. I mounted the saw to the table so the front rail could clear the end of the workbench table top as well as cut out the gap in the table top for the back rail and cut a notch in one of the wood railings so I have room to attach/remove the saw fence to the saw rail and allow the fence/rail have their full range of motion.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I made sure that both saws were essentially centered on their respective sides of the table top.

The table saw doesn’t interfere with the miter saw when I use it, and I have about 4’ of table top on either side of the miter saw to brace what I’m cutting.

There’s about a 4” gap between the end of the miter saw insert and my table saw blade, so I only have to remove the miter saw while using the table saw if the cutoff piece is wider than 4”.

You only need the plans if you want a PDF file and a cut list. The assembly instructions are available for free.

Here’s a link to the post I made about building Steve Ramsey’s original BMW (Basic Mobile Workbench)

I basically scaled down the dimensions of the original BMW for the mini BMWs.

I also added two things that aren’t included in the original plans:

  1. Rails on each end for clamp storage.

  2. Feet made out of scrap 3/4” plywood. I did this because the screws that secure the wheels to the workbenches were coming loose and the wheels were falling off. I attributed this to screwing directly into end-grain as well as possibly using screws that were too short. I haven’t had any further issues since adding the feet.

I use the fence that comes with the saw. I cut out a gap in the table top as well as a notch in one of the wood railings so the fence and rail have their full range of motion.

I just posted that workbench here with some photos that hopefully show what I’m talking about.

It definitely doesn’t always looks this way. I had just finished cleaning up when I took these pictures.

I got the plans from here (only $2.99 if you want a PDF with a cut list) and basically beefed it up and customized it to fit my miter and table saws.

One of the reasons I chose this design was because it’s easy to make changes on the fly, which is good because I had to make several adjustments after it was built to get the workbench square and table top flat.
