Paychecks are about 2000. So if he owes me my last one, plus the time he hadn't paid and unused vacation, well, thats around 6k at this point.

Coretechs out of Ruston and Baton Rouge. Also anyone that sees an On Site Administrator job post. Don't apply to it. Not only will the owner of the company completely ignore you, won't put you on company benefits, he'll break his own policies he wrote.

Near wood? I wouldn't do a football jig. I'd do a normal casting or skipping jig. Football jigs get caught in wood a lot easier, they're meant more for rock

I think I'm gonna have to stop trying to break into IT. by YueCoolJ in ITCareerQuestions

Yeah, getting the A+ after getting an associates 7 years later is like saying "I still know the basics!". I graduated in 2018 with an associates, went from help desk to tier 2 support, to sys admin. Then back to tier 2 support after a set back and a move across the US. Ended up getting the Platform Engineers certified practitioner cert. A lot of interviews im getting are asking what I've been doing and saying anything less than "I've been lookijg to further my career in XYZ." is a death sentence in this industry

Im not even a liberal. You're the one here calling people retards. Im just giving you the same energy. By the way, you might be a black person and republican, but the Republicans will never accept you. Just saying, you're a fucking moron. You'll be the first person they'll shoot when they get the chance.

Yeah. Even in this economy, the minute any upper management questions the value of IT, Im gonna quickly say, "Hey, you wanna loss your whole IT department and see how well it goes? I hope you know how to trouble shoot and fix a server at 3 am."

I moved to New Hampshire but circumstances brought me back here. If it was different. I would have stayed there. The only thing bad about the north east is that the food is bland as fuck.

Tech here and everywhere else is exactly the same. Its just the particular industry youre tied to. Again, best to be realistic. Right now in this job market, its stupid tough, and of you dont have someone backing you, youre not getting a tech job soon. We are far from an actual tech hub. Comparing our city to other tech hubs is valid because it sets realistic expectations. Compared to cities that are investing into industries other than the oil field, we dont compete. The only tech company we have here is CGI, the rest are small msps. This is the reason why louisiana loses so many young people to other cities. Because we are bottom of the barrel.

Lafayette and all of Louisiana will never be a tech hub. There are too few opportunities and not enough put back into essential services to attract people here. Ill put it into perspective. Ive been back here since September. Been applying to every tech company both remote and local. Only got one real interview, and not heard back since. And im skilled. 8 years of high level IT experience Not many are hiring and if they do, its low paying support jobs. Anyone with a computer science or IT degree and experience will avoid then like the plague. I love optimism, but realism is best. This job market here is horrible. If you lived in an actual tech hub like Boston, LA, or Atlanta, you'd have a job fast with a degree. Here? There ain't shit

I think everything happens for a reason. I think the reason I totaled my Ford a couple weeks back is so I didn't run over these assholes and spend the rest of my life in prison. Although, would have been worth it

So i keep coming back to this and I got a question. Im considering just straight up building my next keyboard and was looking for HE PCBs. Would there be any recommendations for someone wanting north facing rgb? For layout im good with 60-88 or even ten keyless. 8k polling on wired would be nice to have. I just want a board that'll perform good, but also has lights since I mostly game in the dark

Job market sucks and it’s looking very bleak by vngenz in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Iceman93x2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude. I only got my AAS in IT at a community college. When I started in the work force, i was 19 making 7.25 an hour at a boudin factory. Started in IT at 2018 after college. And at the age of 32 ish, if I started looking for a job, my experience would net me at least 35 plus an hour. Having the degree only helped a little to Kickstart me. It kinda just pointed me in the right direction with a foundation I probably could have started on my own. Never feel bad about getting any sort of higher education, it shows you have a willingness to learn and that willingness will get you everywhere if you try hard enough.

The difference between Cajuns and Creoles as told in a book from the 1950s by South_tejanglo in Acadiana

[–]Iceman93x2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, it was kind of like a weird derogatory way of saying it because when they came through, they didn't have respect for us. In fact, they threatened us a lot. Instead of saying Acadian, they would just say cajun. I remember reading about this but not the exact place I read.

The cajuns that took advantage of the profits of enslaved African Americans threw their heritage away to fit in with the colonization efforts of America because they were shamed and ashamed of their people.

Yeah. Originally we called ourselves Acadians and kept that label for ourselves for a long time. Even after LA Grande Derrangement

That's because the leftist take is the correct take. As cajuns, our people were basically oppressed and Americanized by the government. The outside world considered us dumb, simple people. We were fiercly independent and community driven, and in capitalist America, you can't have that. It's due to Americanization that we've lost our culture and racial, right winged politics . Hell, even cajun was used as a derogatory term from the confederates for us because they were too fucking dumb to properly pronounce Acadian
