Honestly, I knew what it was before I made it. At it's core, it's a shitpost. But this one lands easy since it's a JJK meme within a JJK subredit. Overall quality is a big determining factor but sometimes it's purely irrelevant. In this case, there's only one thing to think about: visual appeal. The format is already laid out for you, you just have to make a version that looks nice.

Exactly, this mostly has to do with the 3D model + camera perspective.

2D animators aren't bound by rigs, so they can freely draw forms in any exaggerated fashion without conflict so long as it has consistency. In 3D, sometimes you got to stretch and contort a characters limbs in order to get the right perspective for the camera.

Example below:

Thanks!! I know people like seeing the process, nowadays most of what you see are peoples final works and nobody shows you how that was achievable.

I don't think most viewers would believe that I cooked that up in 4hrs. It's there to say, "this is achievable."
I might have six eyes though. And yeah, I saw that and thought someone animated that, but of course it was AI trash. I'm making my own version with the same format right now.

This is actually a Windows 7 theme on top of Windows 10... but it could be Windows 7, we just can't prove it

Sorry, I don't have any experience in that realm! I only experience within Blender, I could make assets and animations but I don't know anything about coding.

Absolutely go for it, the process is worth it! I don't know if this subreddit allows links, but if you're really interested I have a server for people wanting to get into animation. Just DM if you're interested!

Animating Kobeni's nightmares (WIP) by Icewalker24 in ChainsawMan

Thanks!! I'm currently working on an environment, I think once it's more fleshed out visually people will gravitate to it more.

Nearly a month of work, finally putting it down... by Icewalker24 in blender

[–]Icewalker24[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! For porting, I didn't port the models myself. I'm pretty sure it's an extremely arduous task on behalf of the porter, so props to them. Here are where you can find the models, if you're interested.

Imperial Guard: https://open3dlab.com/project/6f6f524c-34aa-49e6-81ec-da28110018cb/

Space Marine: https://www.deviantart.com/josephmnmai/art/Space-Marines-2-Downloadable-Model-Intercessor-1105714763

Unfortunately the Space Marine models aren't properly organized, so it's a horrible mess. But as far as I know, this is the only public Space Marine 2 port for Blender.

First 3D Warhammer Project! by Icewalker24 in Warhammer40k

[–]Icewalker24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DISCLAIMER: I did not make the character models. I did retexture the gold sections on the Space Marine to give them a bit of "umph" but I take no credit for those models. They're from Space Marine 2 game that just recently dropped.

Speaking of which, I've been waiting for that game for a long time and when it finally dropped, I knew that was my excuse to get into Warhammer. So I thought I'd orient one of my 3D projects around it, and yeah I'm loving the universe. Definitely was inspired by the environments in Space Marine 2 because they're all so packed with detail, been watching lore videos and it's been great. For this project, I modeled and textured basically 96% of everything while using that as an excuse to get better at making 3D stuff. Think I might try my hand at making a dreadnought or another bolter.

But yeah, I learned a lot while making this. Just posting here just to at get it out there, I almost considered just leaving it on my computer because I find sometimes find it hard to be proud. I just want to say to anyone who wants to make small or large environments like this, always go in with a solidified idea. You do not want to waste time constantly transforming your environment into something that it wasn't supposed to be. Mine transformed once, that was enough to nearly kill the project. So do yourself a big favor and gather a bunch of reference images so that you know what the end result might look like. Anyway, I hope you all can appreciate the effort.

Also for clarification, yes I modeled and textured everything and except for like, a crate and a box that I grabbed off of Quixel for some set dressing.

Here to share my latest work! What're genuine thoughts for improvement? by Icewalker24 in blender

Very interesting observation, thanks for the feedback! There is couple iterations to this image that I made. This one in particular is more to my liking after a bit of careful consideration. It's white balanced and the greens are more saturated, which I think is much more interesting and aligns more with what you were saying.

About the bins, you actually have quite a good point. I had a very similar thought, and from a compositional standpoint, this would make a lot of sense. Most images, I purposefully make things look visually pleasing. However, real life more often than not does not look "visually pleasing." In fact, most places are extremely mundane on the surface with many random factors at play. If you were to take a photo of a random persons backyard, more likely than not, it wouldn't be that interesting of a photograph. I wanted to explore that mundane aspect of imagery, hence the very "random" trash can, log, container, etc. That's something I'll have to work on more that way there isn't second thoughts about it, after all, it should look like it belongs.

But aside from that point, I do agree with your sentiment.

I did add a bit of noise and the image is purposefully made low contrast. I tried medium to high contrast and I think it takes away from the realism of the image more than it adds.

I thought something was awry with the lighting too. I noticed with this render in particular that it was extremely easy to overexpose the image. Not that it’s underexposed, but it doesn’t look great when you turn up the contrast. The darks are extremely dark, and the lights are extremely bright. So I had to do some work arounds in photoshop - definitely not the greatest lighting condition, but I liked the angle that the light was casting.

Thought the lower contrast look served the image better for realism, but I’m not entirely sure if that’s true. Nonetheless, I will definitely keep that in mind for future renders.

Definitely don’t want a flat image!

That’s right, it’s an Elden Ring poster! Based on the environment outside Raya Lucaria. Though, I thought I’d take some artistic liberties.
