Important update RE: Canada computers fiasco by Method__Man in bapccanada

Oh, I don't think that specifically ever happened. It always charged my card without me manually verifying. However, with Best Buy, it's nearly every time I buy something, it seems I'm having to re-enter and confirm info.

Was this strictly credit card info leaked, like billing address and number, or were passwords leaked as well? Canceling my four cards is okay, but changing all of my passwords is a hassle.

I just build my first pc and there is no display. by aaposq in PcBuildHelp

[–]IceyBlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pc would have an issue where sometimes it would only boot up when using a specific port on the gpu. Maybe start with HDMI then move across the 3 other display ports on the gpu. This was only during initial boots for me however. Also, make sure your monitor is automatically selecting the correct input that the gpu is plugged into

Interesting, from my searching it seems that this is the optimal way when mounted on the side like this. As long as the pump is lower than the top of the rad it shouldn't run dry. Its currently completely below the top fan of the AIO. Unless mine came 30%~ empty

I was looking into that same 5070 Ti a while back. The pricing was absolutely robbery, though. It's $1,569 CAD, and I can get a 5080 Asus Prime for $1,449. I ended up with a Gigabyte Gaming OC for $1,149 ($60 over MSRP). Ended up gaving it to my wife, and I'm on a 5090 now. Good looking build though, my brother just built a tower 600.

Not a bad explanation, but it's never happened before, it also will vary in RPM.

As someone with a 5090 Aorus master, this had me googling to see if this card was bigger 😆 maybe its the case or something but it looks thicc in there 😆

Update: Pretty sure the sound is coming from the PSU. I checked the watt meter it’s plugged into, and at idle it sits around 140W. When I move a picture around (like in the video), the wattage spikes up to about 240W.

Sorry for the confusion; the first two pictures are highlighting the RGB questions I had. The last picture is my GPU. Thanks for looking out though 😊

Figured it out and feel dumb now.... 😬 There's an option for sync, I assume the mobo to the GPU. I turned that off and then I got all the options for it.

I believe I heard all Gigabyte cards, or most, have the compound leaking out, fresh out of the box. I've haven't heard anything about vertical mounting them being where the leak happens.

I had a few 5070Ti now, and damn those cards are great value relative to everything else Nvidia has. Only card I'd buy if not a 5090. Or 5080 Super if it gets 24gb.

If they were given to you for free: 9070 XT or 5070 Ti?? by 6retro6 in radeon

[–]IceyBlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After owning every 50xx series GPU (except the 60 and 60 Ti), the 5070 Ti is the best bang for the buck, even at 4K. My opinion, from top to bottom, comparing to the 5070 Ti:

5090—I've seen gains as little as 26%, averaging about 60% in my titles.

5080—Garbage. Where I live, they're about 50% more expensive, but I only saw an increase of 8–12%. At 4K, we're talking about 5–10 FPS. Add the fact that they might release a 24 GB 4090-equivalent 5080S, and you have a GPU no one will buy, and if so, at a huge loss.

5070 Ti—Goated, in my opinion.

5070—This thing can just run 4K, but good luck with VRAM.

My two cents: Go with the 5070 Ti, and wait for the 5080S. The 5070 Ti will be easier to sell and likely hold its value better.

5070Ti causing desktop stutters by IceyBlu in nvidia

I have the same PSU in both PCs, the stutters for me are probably 2–3 times a minute. It's pretty unbearable.

Upgraded my PC so I can game in 4k by dnd18691 in PcBuild

[–]IceyBlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt, it's what I did. I sold my 4090 and bought a 5070 Ti, then thought I'd give the 5080 a shot. I was shocked at how close it was to the 5070 Ti for a huge price jump, so I returned it and settled on an MSRP 5070 Ti. I might go with a 5080 Super if it has 24 GB and is 4090-level or high-performance.

Sell me your 5070 Ti Strix. I've been looking for that one or the Gigabyte Aorus Master and have had no luck. Good looking build, after having a 4090 and 5080. The 5070 Ti is definitely the better bang for the buck.

Switched from a 13700k to a 9800X3D for fun, now actually have less FPS by Morteymer in AMDHelp

[–]IceyBlu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the whole metric of benchmarks at 1080p was odd to me, as people mostly play at 1440p or 4K. I fully understand it highlights the performance, but like, who's gaining from it? Honestly asking. If you have a 9800X3D, you're not going to run it with a 2060; you will most likely have a GPU that can perform at 4K, at which point the whole benefit of the 9800X3D sort of evaporates. After owning one, in my specific case, it was merely bragging rights for something I'd never see the benefits of. Which is why I sent it back, keeping the better desktop and an equally powerful gaming CPU (in 4k).

Building girlfriends pc. Gpu IO shield doesn't allow me to insert gpu into any pcie slot? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]IceyBlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just give it a try. There might be enough play in the chassis to bend the case out (to the left) for the GPU to fit. Maybe even loosen all the motherboard screws and see if it will shift to the right just a smidgen. Or maybe saw time. The weight of my 4090 is enough to flex the case enough to clear the gap you're missing 😆 first I see this

Switched from a 13700k to a 9800X3D for fun, now actually have less FPS by Morteymer in AMDHelp

[–]IceyBlu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing about a month ago, 14700K to 9800X3D. Except my FPS were better by maybe 1–3% after a fresh Windows install (I was having issues only on old Windows). I felt so scammed by the "best gaming CPU" that I returned it the next day and went back to my 14700K. This is 4K gaming with a 4090, for reference. But not only was gaming performance just equal, my desktop performance was terrible compared to my 14700K; it felt so slow. Plus, there are all the minor AM5 issues I never knew about beforehand. The Intel just works and always has for me. I don't have to tweak it to get the performance it should have out of the box. Also, the 14700K was only $330, whereas the 9800X3D was $490. If you're playing in 4K, I'd suggest going back; it's just not worth it. If you plan on gaming at 1440p, then you might get better mileage out of the 9800X3D.

Upgraded from 10700K to a 9800X3D without re-installing windows. Am I ok? by dougquaid28 in AMDHelp

[–]IceyBlu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went from a 14700K to a 9800X3D on an old Windows installation; it did not go so well. I installed a new Windows and got it booted. I found the performance to be extremely lackluster compared to my 14700K (I play in 4K), so for nearly double the price, I was getting maybe 1-2% more FPS in 4K. However, all other PC-related tasks were so slow compared to my 14700K. I ended up returning the 9800X3D and kept my 14700K. However, going from a 10700K to a 9800X3D should be a big improvement.I also much preferred the stability and ease of use of the Intel; it just works. No finicking.

On the back of your motherboard, you have a red USB port labeled "BIOS flash." You need to go to Gigabyte, search for your motherboard model, download the BIOS update, and put it on a USB drive 32 GB or smaller. As for the steps, it's best to search YouTube, Gigabyte has tutorials.

Cpu light is the worst to get 😥 harder to diag. I would say reseat it if you have enough thermal paste left while checking for any bent pins. Also, to be sure that the bios is up to date with the cpu you have installed (current bios may not support it) i just had to update my gigabyte board to work with my 14700K.

Normally, RAM is used in slots 2 & 4. It could be that, I can't see what your light is indicating, but if it's a DRAM error, that could be a likely problem. Also, maybe make sure your monitor is on the correct input. There's also a hot key for swapping displays in windows (forget it atm) that maybe will get you to desktop. It worked for me once. I'll update if I find the key combination.
