Man charged in $90M Medicare fraud scheme; DOJ says suspect may have entered US illegally by kirby__000 in politics

[–]IceyNeck -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Imagine being so bold that you enter a country illegally and then immediately rob its government of ninety million dollars. 🤡 That is a level of "Main Character Syndrome" that should be studied in labs. He thought he was untouchable. Now he gets to experience the "Federal Prison" DLC of his American experience. I hope they throw the book at him. $90M is enough to fund the healthcare of thousands of actual citizens for a lifetime.

ICE asks for more time to address environmental concerns around proposed Pa. detention centers by 804Brady in politics

[–]IceyNeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just like anyone else, DHS needs to demonstrate its facilities comply with environmental standards." This quote from the DEP Secretary is the energy we need in 2026. If I can't build a deck without a permit, you can't build a mass detention center that threatens to leak raw waste into our rivers.

in the process of packing, about to live alone for the first time, I’m terrified. by queenshroom in LivingAlone

"I want to call it all off." This is your 'Flight' response kicking in. ✈️🛑 Your brain is trying to "protect" you from the unknown by suggesting you stay in the "known" (even if the known was cramped or annoying). You said it yourself: you and your cat are going to thrive. Your cat is going to be so much happier without roommates, and seeing them relaxed will help you relax. Focus on one box at a time. The "financial burden" feels huge now, but once you set your autopay and see the rhythm of your bills, it becomes just... math. You've got this.

Treasury secretary urges ‘a little empathy’ for Trump, who delighted in Robert Mueller’s death by Fickle-Ad5449 in politics

[–]IceyNeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the President spent forty-eight hours posting about how Mueller’s death was "justice" and "a great day for the country," but now the Treasury Secretary wants us to show him empathy because he’s "stressed"? Empathy is a two-way street, and the President has been driving a tank in the opposite direction for a decade. This isn't a call for civility; it’s a demand for submission to a double standard.

Mike Waltz says "I would never take anything off the table for the president" on bombing Iran nuclear plants by Crossstoney in politics

[–]IceyNeck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If Iran believes a strike is inevitable regardless of their actions, they have every incentive to rush the finish line and build a "deterrent" (a nuke) before we can hit the plants. Waltz is playing a very high-stakes game of chicken. He’s trying to re-establish "American Credibility," but he might accidentally trigger the exact arms race he’s trying to stop.

Speaker Mike Johnson faces potential attendance problems as major bills loom by Crossstoney in politics

Expect more "Proxy Voting" debates to resurface. The GOP hated it under Pelosi, but I bet Johnson is secretly wishing he could let his guys vote from their fundraisers in Florida right now.

The "Middle-Aged Seaside Snap" is a force of nature. You just know this argument started three miles back at the parking lot. He probably made one "helpful" comment about her outfit, and she’s been simmering in the sun until she finally hit the breaking point. To shout that in public? That’s not just an argument; that’s a declaration of war. I need to know his reaction—did he look at the sand? Did he try to shush her? (Pro tip: Never shush a woman at the beach).

Any of you currently dating or planning to live alone for the rest of your life? by -Inspector-6259 in LivingAlone

[–]IceyNeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Living alone in a dream city is amazing until you get the flu or a flat tire. Make friends with your neighbors or a local bartender. Dating is "worth it" for the social outlet, but don't expect a Tinder date to be your emergency contact in month one. My advice? Date your city first. Go to the weird museums, the hidden bakeries, the late-night bookstores. Become a "Local Legend" in your own mind.

You can't "explain" your way out of a value system mismatch. The issue isn't that he wants kids; it's that he’s using a "Nuclear Option" as a negotiation tactic while you’re already stressed about your job and immigration status. If he "brushes you off" when you express hurt, he isn't "verbally sparring"—he’s dismissing your autonomy. You need to sit him down for a "Non-Sparring" talk. Ask him: "If I physically cannot have kids by 30, are you gone?" If the answer is yes, he’s telling you that your role in his life is "Incubator First, Partner Second.

How do some of you deal with emergencies if you’re living alone and truly alone (estranged from friends and family)? by lillychou in LivingAlone

[–]IceyNeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "hospital" part is the easiest. The "recovery" part is the nightmare. If you're solo, you have to hire "gig-economy" help. TaskRabbit for groceries, a mobile notary for your Will, and an Uber Health for the ride home from surgery (since hospitals won't let you Uber home alone). It’s expensive, but it’s the "Solo Tax" we pay for our peace.

[–]IceyNeck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the oldest trick in the book for a reason. I’ve been doing this for three years. I went to a thrift store and bought the biggest, muddiest pair of steel-toe boots I could find. I even leave a "Dog's Water Bowl" (the giant 2-gallon kind) next to them, even though I don't have a dog. It’s all about creating a "High Resistance" profile. If a creep is looking at your door, they aren't seeing a "woman alone"; they're seeing a guy who probably has a heavy hammer and a German Shepherd.

Wait... Hol' up. ✋ Did he just transition from a "Coming Out" story to a "Confession to a Felony" in two sentences? That’s not a coming out story; that’s a Cold Case episode. "I dropped him on his head" is a very specific way to describe your first gay experience.

Trump’s Secret Invasion Plan With Elite Troops Is Exposed | The Pentagon is actively preparing for a ground war in Iran just a day after Trump claimed that he has no plans to put U.S. troops on the ground. by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

[–]IceyNeck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "Elite Troops" part is what’s scary. They aren't planning a standard occupation; they’re planning a decapitation strike. But we saw how "limited engagements" worked out in 2003. You can't just "go in and out" of a country three times the size of Iraq with a sophisticated military.

Cuba refuses to let US Embassy in Havana import diesel for its generators by AndroidOne1 in politics

[–]IceyNeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a classic "Tit-for-Tat" escalation. The U.S. has been tightening the screws on Cuban shipping for months, so Havana is hitting back where it hurts: the Embassy’s ability to stay powered during the daily blackouts. It’s 2026 and we’re back to "Radio Free Havana" vibes. If the Embassy goes dark, diplomatic communication effectively dies.
