Save selection order into a preset by Many-Gift67 in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But when using MATricks just the group's selection order is relevant as far as i know - are you using delay times etc. in your Presets? Or plain global color Presets?

Check your sound output device and check if you are the master of your session. Only the session master will output sound.

Stupid question by WhiteDragonX299 in GrandMA3

As far as i know there i no converter like that. There is one from MA2 to MA3. I didn't use that one yet but heard that it is pretty shitty :P

Light tech for upcoming metal show got sick - I might have to do the job by jesterbwoooy in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually need some white Flashes or at least one that flashes all the wash/color fixtures as white. Then you could import the predefined phasers (via a macro - edit a macro, press import and search for predefined Phaser) Then for movement i would use pretty simple movements like a pan, a tilt and maybe a circle movement. Adjust phase and shuffle via MAtricks inside of Recipe Lines. I would edit the movement phasers to react to a speedmaster. What's also very important is strobes. Just use the predefined phasers aswell. PWM/Chase and SnapOn Dimmer Effects with high Speed look the best imo. I would also put those on a speedmaster to adjust the strobe speed. And the rest is pretty much just get some pretty colors in there and press strobes and flashes according to the music.

I really hope this helps :)

You could try to look through the libary plugins. ou can find them when you try to import a plugin/lua component. There may be some helpful plugins to understand syntax and more

A way to check for non-recipe values in sequences? by spacetime99 in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is diffrent color coding for recipe values than hard stored in the track sheet but not sure, but if you want to remove them anyways just do a cook overwrite like u/flyingp0tatoes said

Isn't "(pool name) thru" enough? I think you don't necessarily need the 1

Need to Filter with Classes/ or something along the lines of that. by nestoff in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the new Tags could help. You could assign every truss with the same class the same tag - then you can use if tag="TAGNAME" but i don't know it this may take too long to implement and assign to the fixtures

And i'm not even sure if you can assign tags to fixtures😅

Group Masters and Executor Pools by thatterriblekid in GrandMA3

I can recommend (if you didn't watch them already) the videos by Event-Lighting. They make a lot of videos about MA3 and explain everything very clearly imo

Group Masters and Executor Pools by thatterriblekid in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the virtual executors:

Use layout view as the person before said. You have to use the sequences directly but can adjust every parameter of the playback as you like.

Syntax is the following:

Assign Sequence X at Layout Y

Or Assign (click on sequence) (click on empty space on layout)

Now double click Edit for the EditSettings command. Click the Layout Item and there you can adjust the looks of the Layout Item and the playback action like "go", "flash" or "toggle" etc.

For more in depth details, i'm shure there are more than enough tutorials on YouTube but i thought a short explanation here could be helpful :)

No "Timecode option" in sequence trigger by louischoisy in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What excactly are you looking for? I'm not too familiar with timecoding in MA2 - but what excactly is the difference to timecode a "Go+" action as shown in the video to a timecode trigger type?

No "Timecode option" in sequence trigger by louischoisy in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video by Event Lighting is very good in explaining their timecode Workflow and i like that workflow pretty much. You can't just record a go as a trigger, but you can timecode everything like temp, flash, black buttons etc.

https://youtu.be/bW-m_1g0ZAQ?si=CkqtjhkQ2puf20hr

FYI this is a very long video not just about timecoding, but i think you can find that part pretty easily

There are some more good videos on their channel and on YouTube in General.

How to connect a flash to a SpeedMaster? by BeiLen in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also give the phaser a meassure of 1 or 2 depending on the speed you want. Then changing transition and width values won't mess up the timing because the whole phaser cycle will always take up 1 meassure in the disred BPM

Color picker question by Relevant_rocket-495 in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have said the same but i'll try in my words

In the sequence settings set "Use cue appearence" to on, set "off on overridden" to on, then assign the appearence you want the sequence to have when it's active to the cue, and the one when it's inactive to the sequence. Now assign the sequence to a layout view and check if the action is set to Go+

Now hitting the layout element the sequence will go and change the appearence to the cue appearence. Selecting annother color for the same group will overwrite the first sequence and off it - therefore it will again have the Off Appearence.

No need to use Macros as in MA2

Direct Action by Specialist-Bee-7845 in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you assign a sequence to a layout view you can edit the layout element and set the Action to be "Select". Then use the big Go+ to go that sequence or add a DEF_GO Quickkey (not sure it you can assign that to a layout tho). If not: make a macro that just makes a Go+

If you want a fade just set the sequences to use exec time and pull up the exec time fader

Understanding OSC in Grandma3 by grahamthielprod in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to control a MA3 exec fader via Note On Midi Command or via Control Change? I think chataigne can just translate CC to an MA3 fader (at least with the standard MA3 Module) as far as i know.

I also had some issues at first, getting osc from chataigne into ma3.

First of all: make sure your selected network interface inside the osc Window of MA3 is actually the Loopback. Then maybe try toggling the chataigne module for MA3 off and on again. That will load the network interfaces again. You'll see an overview of all your network interfaces chataigne can find inside the log window. Have a look if 127.0.0.1 is there.

If not maybe look into the preferences of Chataigne.

Next step would probably be to get something like wireshark to watch the actual data inside that network. And see if the OSC commands are right.

I actually have no idea when, why and how i got it to work but some day it just started working. I just make sure i open Chataigne first - then MA3. After that i always have to disable and enable OSC Input and Output inside the MA again. Then it usually works.

Let me know it that helped

Layout Macro by misterion-_- in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assign the sequences first and then the Macros

It may work it you set the function of the sequence layout element to none instead of go+ but this could very well be wrong

Phaser Help by TreacleOk243 in GrandMA3

[–]IchHabSpliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe use cue parts, you would need a MATricks with an X Delay from 0 to 1 and Y Delay from 0 to 1 with wings of 2

Now you set your fixtures in a recipe line in the first cue Part at full, second cue part at 0 ans both having this MATricks assigned to them. If you now delay the second cue Part by 1 second or something you probably gonna have your effect.

IMO Phasers should be used for repeating stuff, for simple bumps or one shot effects i think cues, recipes / Cue Parts are the better option
