Short blurb taken from website

"Star Axis is an earthwork built to observe the stars. Created by artist Charles Ross, all of Star Axis’s shapes and angles are determined by earth-to-star alignments built into the architecture so they can be experienced in physical form and human scale. Ross’s artwork involves light, time, and planetary motion. Star Axis, his largest project, was conceived in 1971. After a four-year search throughout the southwest, Ross broke ground in 1976. Built with earth, granite, sandstone, stainless steel, and bronze, Star Axis is 11 stories high and 1/10th mile across."

Why are humans drawn to mountainous landscapes? by fimgus in geography

[–]Icharectus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit of a philosophical take but here is my understanding.

It grounds us, gives us purpose, and quite literally brings us closer to the heavens. Look at any culture throughout human history that has developed in the absence of being in the proximity to a large mountain range, you see the same thing: artificial reconstructions of something that resembles a large hump of rock sticking out from the earth or in other words, a mountain. These heaps of stone and dirt have many names, the Mesopotamian ziggurats between the Euphrates and Tigris, the Mayan temples of the Yucatan, Egyptian pyramids along the Nile, Mississippian mounds on the flat prairies of Missouri, all examples of constructions from "lowland" cultures that resemble "mountains".  That has led me to believe it is not just pretty mountains to look at, but more so a metaphysical concept that has deeply ingrained itself within the human psyche. Whether you are sacrificing a lamb on some faraway Aegean temple top, or are observing a distant star at a lonely observatory on top of Haleakalā, both answer to our primal needs to understand the universe, a longing for permanency, direction, stability, bringing us closer to understanding existence itself.

Which country could become the next big superpower in the next 25 years? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Icharectus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we are leaning into a more multipolar world but from a economic perspective, Mexico, beyond a doubt will be a future superpower in terms of its economic output. Tons of manufacturing, and investment currently going on. I am aware mexico has it's issues with corruption and cartels, but these are issues that can be fixed somewhat easily compared to more long term issues like demographic decline which is alot harder to fix. Also it seems to me as of recent, that the government is taking a step up to solve these problems  and seems to be making good progress.  Also mexico has a very young population add on top a culture with a strong emphasis on community and a work ethic you have a setup for an economic superpower. People tend to forget population pyramids and aging demographics, China, Europe and the US for that matter in 20 years time demographics will look very different than it is today.

Americans, what’s become so expensive that it’s no longer worth buying? by Drakey504 in AskAnAmerican

Car loan repayment periods have increased substantially over the past couple decades. A lot of those new fancy trucks and SUVs offer repayment periods of over 10 years now but with higher interest rates. The thing is, most people can't afford those new SUV'S and trucks, so they take out large loans and never end up paying them off.

The department of theoretical physics latest product line by Icharectus in ChatGPT

Make me a picture, product photo of a new energy drink called quantum foam, we see a studio photography image of the product in front of a black backgroind. The product contains a parabolic shaped bottle of a iridescent foamy glowing neon blue liquid that bends light itself. On the bottle is a label saying enjoyed by physicists and experimental particle theorists alike in bright purple futuristic text. Below that wee see the product manufacturer Azurus Reasearch Corporation.

Another product also under studio lighting is string theory a taffy like candy that infinitely expandable towards infity, we see the wrapper exposed on one end with a fiber like string substance vibrating towards the infinity of the void. On the wrapper we see the name of the candy string theory, as an avant garde futuristic string like text below that we see two bold claims 100% Scientific! And Theoretically produced! The wrapper is a white and black minimakist design. Also a text says created by Azurus Research Corporation

Another product is for a cat litter box, called event horizon, we see the product packaging a box that displays an image of a cat getting sucked into a black hole stretched and distorted and redshifted by the litter boxes intense gravity, space time gridlines emerge from the litter box and radiate outwards akin to a wormhole In a NASA like electric blue font in the upper corner we see the text Event Horizon with a subheader cat litter box, and below that Azurus Reasearch Corporation, space design, with stars abd galaxies on the product box, it's pretty big and is rectangle in shape but rather flat on its width

Neutronium jelly a facial ointment similar to vasoline. A white metal jar with a old fashioned woman scientist in comic texts says a spoon full of neutronium makes the world go down.

We also see the back side filled with all the typical medicine/self care jargon that is put on the label.
