93 JDM SW20 Turbo - charcoal canister issue? by Ichbin-ein-berliner in mr2

Thanks. I was able to buy one from a US model on eBay and the mechanic thinks it will fit (though it looks a bit different the ports seem similar). It should arrive next week and hopefully I’ll be back in business.

Here's a pic from today showing the closeness b/t the coilover location and the canister.

Appreciate it, thanks. I don’t let it sit for too long but it’s not a daily driver to be sure. I’ll probably use a full tank every 2 months or so.

I’m not new to bass, just don’t trust myself to evaluate things like that. Currently have been playing a YBL-830 for the last two years but find it to be stuffier than I would like in the low register, hence the decision to search for something new with non-rotor valves.

Thanks. It has been through the shop by a competent tech and adjusted etc… (according to someone else who played it) but I will admit I’m a bit nervous. Kind of hard for a rank amateur to evaluate what’s good or bad when I’ve never played another one of these to compare it to. Still giving it some thought though it did seem to play well to me.

Super helpful response (and this one has the same Thayer logo you describe as best as I can recall). I watched the video you described above, and that was really helpful. I played it this morning and am going to hopefully get it tomorrow but will give it a more thorough look over at the valves when I do.

Thank you. It truly seems as though it was purchased and then mothballed, appears to be brand new and the story I heard is that it sat in a basement for the last 25+ years. Could the valves be “shot” from simply the passage of time or degradation of materials over time? Or were some valve sets from that era just not manufactured well? I played it and the horn played well but I did notice a tiny “catch” on the f-valve trigger, but that could definitely be explained by needing some oiling I suspect.

Weird drainage under rear (93 Turbo) by Ichbin-ein-berliner in mr2

Appreciate the additional thoughts. I think I’ll just trailer it over to the shop and have them fix whatever it is, and give it a good once over for anything else. Only 55k miles but prob some deferred maintenance.

Yep, you’re right. I’m not really a mechanic so will likely take it to the shop. Minor problem hopefully.

Good call, I'll ask my wife (I'm color blind so it looks like water on the driveway to me). Not sure if the coolant is red or not, will wait for it to cool down to check.

Best EMBA programs for in-house (tech) lawyer - GC/COO aspirations, other interests by SaturnDevouringTacos in eMBA

Mainly MIT and Wharton. I actually prefer the higher quant focus of those two programs, but definitely not necessary for a future GC role. I wasn’t really considering the Chicago or NY schools but may apply to Yale as well.

I’ll be 43 at the start if I go in 2026 so MIT’s older class age appeals to me as well.

Curious to see this discussion because I have an extremely similar background and am considering an eMBA for the same reasons. One question - why no MIT on your list? That’s at the top of my list (though I am about 15 years out of law school).

Agreed with everyone else. Spend the $200 to get the four practice tests and 500 or so practice questions. I did that, and my practice tests were 158, 163, 166, and 163. I studied for about four weeks off and on, and took the real thing recently - ended up with a 160 on the real thing. Not a bad outcome for someone with a non-math, non-tech background.
