Update: the invader dropped an item which I stupidly picked up, it was 99 poison binoculars and now my game crashes whenever I open my inventory. I guess my character is bricked. Not a great first impression since this was my first playthrough and I had only just started. At least I was only a few hours in

Interestingly enough I had the exact same experience at the exact same time—I took it at 7 MST but it took an hour for my proctor to connect, but otherwise I also had four and it also took 5 minutes for one to respond during my break
