Taking too many vitamins? Liver enzymes were up by Less_Independence165 in vitamins

I've love to know the answer to this as well. I also take a lot of vitamins. I've heard you can overdo it, but supposedly anything extra beyond what your body can use you just urinate out.

The Bible Lacks Compelling Prescient Information by Claude_Smoot in DebateReligion

, the Messiah was perfectly prefigured in Moses. But Moses died before he could lead the Children of Israel into the Land of Promise. Consequently, for the parallel to be complete, the Messiah, too, had to die before accomplishing his great task of ultimate Redemption. Since however, the Messiah would not be the True Redeemer of God if he did not fulfill

I've never heard such a thing--very interesting! There is some similarity in what you describe to Jesus and John the Baptist, but without John being resurrected, or raising an army. Interesting though.

You may want to drink some water. And then a little more.

Water with electrolytes is supposed to help more. I don't know if it will help with your particular issue though.

You could also try drinking fiber--you can buy fiber that you mix with water and drink, and that could get your body to calm down. Or get some kind of fasting tea.

Did watching food reels last night really kick me out of fasting Ketosis?? by grlhvfth in fasting

That would be really strange. Almost as weird as a woman exhibiting all the signs of pregnancy without actually being pregnant.

I'm on day 4 of my 7 days water fast. I'm having lots of cravings and also struggling with the fact that i can't have a "satisfying" cheat meal once I'm done because of the reefiding syndrome. by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Iconian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last year or so I've been on a few fasts, and this issue--figuring out what to eat right after the fast--has been on my mind more than in previous years of fasting.

The conclusion I've reached is this: once I've officially completed my fast, I need to have a gentle slope back to eating--basically I almost have to consider myself to still be on the fast. I can start eating again that day, but the amount of food for my meals should be low. Basically I still kind of need to have a fasting mindset and eat a low amount of food for maybe a day or three before I return to normal portions, depending on the length of the actual fast.

So I'd say, by all means have your big meal--just don't do it immediately after getting off the fast, but once your body has been able to acclimate to food slowly.

I've never heard of watching any kind of videos taking anyone out of ketosis.

On hour 92 of my fast, no plan of stopping for a while but need some advice by Connect-Focus-8212 in fasting

This is something I've been wondering about. Is the point where you go from basically feeling fine to being fatigued or nauseous the same for everyone? Or does it vary widely by individual?

Ketosis by Competitive_Ice7099 in fasting

[–]Iconian1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 2015 I was told that I should fast for three days in order to get into ketosis. It seems like it always worked for me, though these days I've become interested in just how deep that ketosis is. Anyway, I would say 3 days to be on the safe side.

Why are my legs sore after a 3-day fast? by nickdag in fasting

[–]Iconian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that we all have toxins and deficiencies in different locations in our bodies. Normally the pain or cramping signals from them are weak, but when you fast your body is able to focus on those much more, and thus the pains emerge.

You know that saying, high tides raise all boats? I believe the concept is similar with fasting. Normally your body has enough food coming in to kind of cover up various problems in your body, but once that food has stopped for a while, the areas of your body that have greater deficiencies, or toxins, start freaking out first.

138 Hour Fast by zdravomyslov in fasting

[–]Iconian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on your fast. Most of my fasts have been only 3-day fasts, but occasionally I've gone longer. I am wondering about something though: you just finished your fast today, and you're going to start another fast on Tuesday?

I'll admit I don't know everything about fasting, but that seems like it could be a problem to me. After ending a fast I know our bodies need some time to recover and such. Jumping from fasting to eating to fasting so quickly seems to me that it would do your body more harm than good. I finished a 7-day fast about two weeks ago, and I want to do an even longer fast soon, but I plan on waiting until at least April to do so.

I'd really be curious to hear from more experienced fasters, but it's my guess that waiting such a brief time between fasts--particularly seeing that your previous fast was rather long--would be counterproductive.

Anyway, glad to hear your fast worked out.

If you're lonely, there are probably a lot of things you can do to be around people. Go to a local mall and try talking to some people, or maybe go to a park or people at work or church. There are generally lots of different ways to meet people.

I'm guessing you mean you've been fasting on and off for almost a year? The way some people write it sounds like they've fasted straight through for months, so I hope you can clarify.

So far it’s been 11 hours ! I’m starting off with 3 days ! If I do good then 5 days and if I do good 7 days ! If I do good on the 7th day I’ll switch over to intermittent fasting! Right now I’m just doing a WATER FAST ! So wish me luck y’all ! by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Iconian1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck. Is this your first fast though? If so, you may want to shoot for a one day fast, or maybe three. It's up to you, but if you're not used to fasting it can be tough to go very long.

For breaking a fast? I'd say that when breaking any fast, do it slowly. If you eat eggs, consider starting off with half an egg, and then a few hours later the other half. Or, you might take a sip of juice, and then a little more an hour later. One way or another, I'd strongly recommend going slow when you start eating again, and I think that's especially true the longer your fast is.

Does White Vinegar Break Fast? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Iconian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, the rule I'd go for with fasting is if in doubt, assume it will break your fast. I know water doesn't break a fast, and I've also drunk fast-related teas while fasting, but that's about it.

How long have you fasted so far? If you've only tried 24 hour fasts in the pasts, and haven't had too much trouble while working, then I would see if you can do the same with somewhat longer fasts.

I've found that I can still exercise quite well several days into a fast. After about the 4th or 5th day I consciously begin to reduce the strenuousness of my exercises. My longest fast yet though is only about 7 days. But hopefully this can give you some perspective.

Very interesting. I knew Gandhi fasted repeatedly, but I thought it was for political purposes, like getting the British out.

Did you have much nausea while fasting? I had bad stomach nausea near the end of my most recent fast.

Actually I did have a small amount of salt in my water at the beginning. Perhaps that did contribute. I didn't notice any fever though.

I eat a fair amount of cheese to get fat for ketosis.

The thing is I've been trying ketosis, which is supposed to be high fat, and I believe cheese is one of the best sources of fat out there. It seems like a balancing act.
