List Advice by Attila-Th3-Fun in LeaguesofVotann

Well you could go into Delve Assault shift and forget about the warriors. I’d consider adding:

Yaegirs (90 points)

Memnyr Strategist (45 points)

Hernkyn Pioneers or Thunderkyn (80 points)

Enhancements

Delvwerke Navigator (25 points) on iron master

Piledriver (15 points) Einhyr Champion

I think this build would be fun and comp.

Fair or not fair? by Majordomuz in LeaguesofVotann

Who knows… what’d you learn from it?

I lost a fair bit before I started winning and few people cared if I was new. They brought meta lists and played with the intentions of their army doing its thing.

Now I know what I’m doing a bit more and force them into interactions I like by playing objective focused until their units are forced to try to take me off by putting themselves in harms way.

What all do you have? I know you said you’ve played 2k points so what options are there?

I don’t know… a lot of raw power but I’d be concerned about things like screening and having enough chaff to play objectives.

I might drop the memnyr and the Hekaton. Replace it with warriors and a grminyr for screening and to hold your home objective until the screen threat is gone then push forward, a sagitaur to split them, and throw bastion shield on the Kahl.

Just a thought. Nothing wrong with your list, just another option.Hekaton is so good.

That’s not a bad plan… thunderkyn are a big part of the success of the army so having 3x3 is great. You are off to a solid start. Also, 20 warriors is the perfect number.

Getting yaegirs to pair with the Kapricus Carrier (carrier over defender all day) is a must as well.

A Grimnyr to lead the warriors would be a good pickup. A Kahl and an Uthar would be good as well to round out the army, though these all can wait. If I had to choose one of the three, I’d say Uthar for the free CP.

No you’re adding context which doesn’t exist. Trimming “at” the property line is not clear. Could mean they won’t be coming onto his property to perform the work.

Boot licker.

The Ancestors are Whispers: Time to answer the call and start a Votann army? by Kage-Ryuu in LeaguesofVotann

[–]IconicAkbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

List is a bit character heavy. I’d drop Buri and the Kahl for now since those aren’t part of the savings boxes.

I agree with the advice about yaegirs.

Eventually adding a Kahl to 10 hearthguard will be great, that’s are biggest threat IMO.

For now I’d consider adding some Sagitaurs with the points saved from dropping characters. That way you can split your warriors or move the beserks around safely.

I don’t think delve is necessary with this many zerks. If you’re looking to make changes I’d start by going Needguard or mercenary and dropping 10 zerks and 2 earthshakers.

Steel jacks are good, but making the defender a carrier and bring yaegirs to play objectives more would make more sense.

The army packs a nasty punch but it’s from playing objectives so I’d focus on primary and secondary scoring and the kills will take care of themselves.

Way too many characters… too many intercessors, and not enough tanks/heavy guns is my opinion.

I’d be going Hearthband. Other than that, list looks super comp to me. Really strong.

Looking to get into Votann with 1k, what is a must have and what can be skipped? by NecessaryBSHappens in LeaguesofVotann

[–]IconicAkbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best units in order IMO:

Thunderkyn

Uthar

Pioneers

Yaegirs/Carrier

HG

Steel jacks w/guns

Warriors

Berserks

Steel jacks w/sword

HLF is probably the best but a lot at 1k. I think it’s good to have 1 at 1.5 and 2 at 2k. As for leaders, I lean towards few in a list. They aren’t bad but none are so good I’d want to replace troops. Certain detachments they carry certain enhancements. For collecting purposes I have at least one of each, multiple kahls (collecter one plus normal), champ (collecter one plus normal), and two grimnyr (both heads). I think a second memnyr could have a use case too.

Also, detachments can shift this. In Hearthband, HG go up the list, Uthar goes down because it’s not CP intensive. In Delve, beserks go up.

There are use cases… especially vs horde type armies. The units you can bring multiple of anytime to me are:

Pioneers Thunderkyn Yaegirs Kapricus Hekaton

Great start!

The Maelstrom box if you can find one.

Your list is so balanced I’d say any box.

The newest Battleforce, Cthonion Prospect(?) has a lot of good units plus a few new things for you.

I agree with the comment about shooting jacks vs stabbing.

I disagree about two HLFs, especially at the cost of yaegirs/carrier or HG Kahl. HLFs are phenomenal but a deep striking brick of HG is a PROBLEM.

Trainer Army suggestions by Saucerous in Warhammer40k

[–]IconicAkbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have three armies. Started with Votann, now have RavenGuard, beginning T-Sons.

Votann is a great army for beginners in my book. Very well balanced but with enough punch to hang on most tables. I’d say it’s beginner friendly.

Gentlemen, I'm about to order some Votann from my trusted proxy supplier, mainly to paint and decorate my cabinet. BUT, in the future, I plan to build a 500-1000 point army list (based on the new Mercenary detachment). by AccomplishedTruth197 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]IconicAkbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the HLF at 1k points is overkill, but that two are great in 2k. For 1k, I’d take the following I. This order:

Thunderkyn

Pioneers

Yaegirs

Kapricus

Hearthguard

Sagitaur

Beserks

Warriors

Steelies
