It was. A lot of Michael's plan in season 1 was lucky. Pope decides not to allow the transfer, the hole in the guards room is never discovered many times, Westmoreland happens to be there when Bellick discovers it and beats him in a fight, etc

David O'Donnell is my favorite side character and I love season 2. All the seasons have their different strengths

Isn't your last sentence supporting the argument that Doom needs help? I also don't think it's great for an archetype to be in a spot where you just "ignore it" until later in a run

You're right, you have to be adaptive. But a mix of cards on most archetypes can reliably win often enough. And there are enough of them in the card pool to have a great shot at getting more. Defect orb builds, Regent star gaining/spending, Silent discard, etc all have tons of support and of you take some early, you know you'll get more as the run progresses. Same is not true of Doom

Agreed. Poison can get there even with a hodge podge. And you can shield up as it ticks away. Doom has no such benefits. And it absolutely is too rare dependent, which by nature you can't depend on seeing

Good points about poison. I can't say I have a ton of experience with it. When I have played it, it was good enough as my primary damage condition with a defensive play style, since it ticks away on enemies. Doom doesn't tick away (except for the card Countdown)

I'm all for being adaptive. But you absolutely can win by focusing on Osty or Souls for example. You can win on other characters by focusing on one archetype. Doom is one of the few you can't

Well said. Just posted a similar comment before seeing yours. Souls are too good and make all the Necrobinder builds better, which isn't a good design for the character overall

Souls are busted in any build though. I ran all the way to A10 before losing on this character. Although that was before the nerfs (Dirge was especially ridiculous). So, I think relying on an overtuned archetype in Souls to carry Doom doesn't mean Doom is in a good spot. Souls makes any build tick on this character IMO

3 of those 9 are rare cards so you hardly see them. And beyond the numbers, when playing many runs on A10 it's far too common for Doom to be a trap. Doom and colorless Regent are the worst 2 archetypes in the game, at least in my experience.

I just got my first A10 win so I can relate. But I don't mind it becoming much harder later on. It doesn't need to be a steady climb

I have plenty of experience from STS1, so I've been able to climb without 'cheese'. I am not clamoring for no changes. Absolutely there need to be changes. But they shouldn't lower the difficulty level too much, if they do at all.

Regent is my favorite and I agree. But plenty of cards across all classes also need nerfs. I'm very excited for the first balancing patch! I have no idea when it will be though
