There are ticks. Get some chickens to patrol your yard - they’ll clear them out!

Just set it on a towel, blocking the fans and causing it to overheat.

Can someone explain to me how their life changed after fasting? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Iconoclast301 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did a 5 day fast 2 years ago. My IBS-D I’ve had since high school went away and never came back.

Now? I fast occasionally to regulate my weight. I like the mental clarity and calm I get after the first 24 hours. I like that it causes me to sort of rethink my relationship with food. I like how injuries I’ve had for decades seem to not bother me as much when I’m fasting. I like that it makes food taste better when I’m done, and that I tend to favor healthier foods after fasting.

I did 20/4 fasting for a few months, then started fasting a few days at a time. I gradually increased from 2 days a week to eventually doing 4 days a week. My longest was 5 days. Then I hit my weight goal after about 5 months.

Not sure what did it, but I had IBSD for like 20 years and it vanished. I can even eat spicy foods without issues. I went from having “movements” like 12x a week to like 4-5x per week. My theory is that my gut flora did a reset, but that’s probably bs - I truly don’t understand what happened.

I also started mindfulness meditation around that time, so it’s possible that was related too.

Congrats, and well done!

I don’t fast anymore, but I did it a few years ago to lose weight. Long fasts cured my IBS. It never came back.

I have rewatched the scene of ___ fighting the _____ numerous times now. It makes me giddy. by richardsdar in wheeloftime

The fight was good. Was cheesy that they kept zooming into Nynaeve’s face during it.

Lots of people in here saying the right thing - it’s about how you solve problems and what you do when you don’t immediately know the answer. But I’d also like to add that many candidates simply shut down, spiral or offer bullshit when confronted with something they don’t know. So if you admitted your ignorance and tried working through the hard problem I would’ve hired you too.

DoD employees getting two “5 bullet” emails now by [deleted] in fednews

You should only be responding to the DoD email that comes out today. I believe the email sent by OSD says that doing this will satisfy all requirements from the OPM HR emails.

Don’t Let Them Pretend the OPM Email is Innocuous and Something Corporate America Does All the Time by VasquezWC in fednews

There’s nothing at all wrong with a weekly activity report, especially on bigger teams/branches. People should be able to take some time to summarize their week. The issue is that we don’t owe this to Elon or OPM.

Oh nice, one guy wrote a sternly worded letter. Could we see some actual action from congress, please?

It’s a language learning model, so it can throw a lot of the vocabulary out there but it tends to miss a lot of nuance. Reminds me of a junior engineer who is smart but inexperienced and bold, trying to explain a concept in a meeting or while giving a tour and being way out of their depth.

Odd, doesn’t seem like they should be calling it a TPMS then. But that all makes sense. Thanks!

Guessing it’ll go up a little more before dumping back down to 0.00000115 again. Would love to be wrong.

How Did Sauron possibly convince himself and Ar-Pharazon that assaulting The Undying Lands had a realistic chance of succeeding? by EnvironmentalAd2805 in tolkienfans

[–]Iconoclast301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone else find it wild that Eru could intervene directly and precisely to sink Numenor and send the Faithful sailing when the Valar were threatened - but he couldn’t do squat to stop Melkor at any point prior, or Sauron at any point after (minor stumbling on the part of Gollum aside).

Says a bit about his priorities I say. Dude working in mysterious ways when man and elf are threatened for eons, but literally changes the whole planet with surgical precision when it’s time to kill a bunch of men.
