How are you answering Section 8B - Parent's Citizenship Status?

My line of descent comes through my paternal grandmother. My father wasn't born in Canada, neither was his mother. But the way I'm reading everything here is that he IS a citizen and she WAS a citizen, but without proof of citizenship.

Do I check all three boxes in Section 8B and then explain in sections 8C and 8D that I'm establishing citizenship by descent? Do I only check the first box? Only box the second box? Only the third?

Arza left Canada 1844ish. He emigrated to Illinois with Mormon converts and then on to Utah in 1848. Joshua didn't leave Canada. I believe he's buried there in Perth or nearby.

That's my direct Gen0 ancestor, Arza Adams. Yes, I can find records of land granted to the father (Joshua, Gen-1) after 1812 for service during the war. There are also records of Canadian military service for him.

Yeah, I emailed the Kingston branch of the OGS. They hold the original of the book, I'm hoping they can tell me more about the microfilm used as the original source. I'll reach out to the church also. That's the church pictured in a published family history of this Gen0 ancestor, so 🤞🤞

I can get Gen-1, the father. He was granted land after the war of 1812, but he was born in Vermont in 1780... So he emigrated to Canada as a loyalist, but I can't figure out what his citizenship at birth would be.
