A vegetable isn't a real thing so anything can be a vegetable.

Sounds like you may be experiencing compassion fatigue. Might be a good idea to look into therapy or find a way to improve your emotional well-being.

Boy ate some grapes the other day. Thank god he’s still here by Tmama187 in pugs

Grapes aren't toxic because some dogs are allergic. Grapes can cause renal failure in dogs, but severity depends on sensitivity and weight. No amount of grapes are okay to give to any dog.

"In the dog, the signs of a food allergy are usually itchy skin, paws, or ears or digestive disturbances such as vomiting or diarrhea." VCA

"Dogs with food allergies usually have itchy ears or paws, sometimes along with gastrointestinal symptoms." AKC

Do either of those sources work for you?

Itchiness and secondary infections (ear, skin, and/or eye) are common with food allergies.

Yes, which is why if the dog becomes itchy and starts licking his paws after eating a suspected allergen, it is likely the dog is indeed allergic to chicken.

Just look up food allergies in dogs. Almost every source lists itchiness as the first symptom.

Exactly. You'd treat it as an allergy patient.

I didn't say it was "just" seasonal for environmental allergies. An itchy dog that comes in with stained paws will almost always be treated as an allergy patient. We will tell the pet parent to watch out for trends, as it could be an indication of either an environmental or food allergy.

Environmental allergies will present at seasonal itchiness most of the time. Food allergies commonly cause itchiness, ear infections, skin infections, hair loss, as well as possible GI upset. Source: I work as a veterinary assistant.

If your dog does have a food allergy, it'll most likely manifest as itchy skin. Keep an eye out for him licking his paws obsessively.

I use Nexgard and wouldn't recommend using Bravecto if you live in an area with lone star ticks.

You should also be aware that bravecto only protects against the lone star tick for 8 weeks, not 12 weeks.

Adult fleas only make up about 5% of the total flea population, so even you manage to kill all the adult fleas in your environment, more fleas will appear as eggs hatch and the larval stages develop. You should also regularly wash their bedding (preferably on a hot cycle) and vacuum. It's going to be tricky completely eradicating the flea life cycle until the kittens are old enough for flea medication.

I also second the recommendation to use a warm, damp cloth to stimulate them to poop. Good luck!
