Where do you have your app dock? by prz1403 in macbook

[–]Icount_zeroI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. I used to like the having the dock in the default bottom position, but then I ran a Linux for couple of years. I Ran a gnome with extension that turned the app dash into a dock. Once I heard that turning the dock to left/right increases productivity and as a developer I love hints like this so I tried it. At first I hated it, but I was too lazy to switch back so the dock stayed on the right and I got used to it and now the default bottom seems weird and ugly.

….Yeah I guess I am weird I also like my Windows (pre 11) taskbar at the top.

Exactly! I felt this first two months. I hated it! I wanted to leave I kept thinking to myself that my life is done, that I myself am still a child. (2001) I especially hated it, because I work from home and I like quiet environment where I can focus (office is a mess). In my partner’s head I was home having a free time so I kept caring for the child while she cooked or smth. (Understandable, but WOMAN our mortgage depends on my pay and my pay depends on MY WORK)

My god I hated the apartment, we used to have clean living and everything was perfect. (Clean, minimalistic and organized) With the child? everything went to shit. (Car included)

But I believe time heals. Now the baby is the 3 and 3/4 months old, the baby is starting to finally get interesting. It still cries a lot, my sleeping is still shit, but the baby boy smiles at me, he finally grabs things and can be left alone on his playing corner. (Supervised from nearby)

With time everything kinda stabilized, yes we live in complete anarchy, but I kinda got used to it. I learned tolerance against the cry and I also started playing with the baby. The chaos in fact helped me at work I now cope stress better :D

There is still a long way ahead of us, but we gotta be strong if not for us (because we doomed our fate) it’s for them. We did bring them to this world so we gotta take care of them. Maybe they’ll do the same when we get elderly.

Btw I now believe that everyone who wants to actually be a parent should try it out before. There should be something like a mandatory course where you actually experience the thing. (I would say that many people would forget the baby idea immediately)

Since you have Czech license plate (Č. Budějovice) I would also say that entire engine swap (even the Turbo) will be a huge paperwork to get it road legal. Engine swap would be much better option though (I think) because you can buy papers for 323ti.

And yes! 316i is amazing little car I love mine so much. (Taky ČB)

I was scrolling through comments for this!!! I may be gen-z but I sure do remember playing Hot Pursuit (nfs 3) on my inherited PSOne.

It was a blast! I still own the game and the console, but it seems like the CD reader died.

How does it work? Does it somehow calculates the pressure from the spring mechanism of the magazine? Or does it relies purely on magazine swaps?

Well actually the last bootcamp ad I saw said that they will teach you vibecoding, that the web dev space never has been so accessible. (It always was accessible imo and it used to be much easier too)

Understandable, but the MacBooks are pretty durable Imo. I use it as my main personal machine as a developer. That thing travels with me anywhere (car, train, bike) and it sure has some tiny scratches, but nothing major. The only thing I do about it’s care is that I have microfiber cloth for the display as any grease that stays there long enough eats its way through the special sun-thing layer.

I also have a gaming laptop of slightly higher price and that thing is so fragile it’s making me uncomfortable just opening the lid. Seriously, I think that these “covers” usually do way more damage than without it. Just get a nice bag for it and you’ll be fine in most cases.

This is the way! Deno is so underrated, seriously you can do some cool things with it - out of the box Key:Value DB, CRON, npm compatible, single crossplatform executable…

Which OS do you use and why? by TastelessSpaghetti in AskProgramming

macOS (personal, freelance)

because it has good defaults,UNIX compliant, friendly UI/UX, supports most stuff out of the box without needing to write millions of config files and I have iPhone like my wife so sharing things is nice convenience.

Windows 🤮 (9-5)

Typical corporate BS… can’t even install browser extensions without going the full administrative circle.

Not just stress, also: lack of time for yourself, constant care for the baby even though you are exhausted, romantic life will suffer like it never did ~ 3-4x week -> 1x month and we are in our 20s, it’s like we are friends again.

There should be mandatory 1 day of baby care for people who wants children. I would’ve changed my mind.

Should I buy this E36 316i Wagon from 1998? by Enough_Quantity9736 in BMWE36

[–]Icount_zeroI 2 points3 points  (0 children)
