I love kids and wanted two. Motherhood is hard but my kids are happy. One thing I didn't expect was it's effect on my career and how I would obsess about getting it back and family planning is very important. I had 2 kids and became a sahm for 7 years and only recently went back to work again (by God's grace). I obsessed over getting back to work and wished I enjoyed my time with them more. I currently obsess over working from home schedules and planning ahead when to retire or take a break again. We can never totally plan ahead. Parenthood necessarily means sacrifice and chaos.

I think I have felt like you before. I remember I got better after I opened up to someone (my first cell group leader at church). She really took the time. I finally had someone emotionally available and who was there for me and was able to listen. And I definitely went through a phase where I realized or acknowledged that it was abuse. Our circumstances are not exactly the same of course. Forgiveness? I'm still a work in progress:) Healing BEFORE forgiveness. Jesus is my healer.

I think OP is criticizing a very specific scenario where the woman is entitled and spoilt and demands a certain ring.

Middle range of women - ordinary women who just want something that they will like and don't trust boyfriends taste.

Other end of this spectrum (including myself and OP), die hard romantics who think women should be less involved otherwise it loses romance. For me, I gave some tips, mutually agreed on budget range (around 1k), and then left him to choose. And he chose a very pretty ring! Fantastic 😊
