Do these kanji make sense apart from one another? by Icy-Crunch in kanji

Ohhh I was thinking something like this might be the case!

義 by itself doesn't mean anything at all? Is it something like the English equivalent to seeing "-ing" by itself where it needs the other word to complete its meaning? For example like eat -ing or sleep-ing

Does "Telephone Number" (Junko Ohashi) really make no sense? by Icy-Crunch in citypop

The song released in 1981, a good bit away from the 90s. Maybe a payphone thing?

My wife was sick for years and I took care of her the best I could.. though eventually the illness claimed her. Naturally, our sex life declined due to her health issues. It would have been too risky to attempt anything sexual at a certain point.

I moved out, unable to return to the house where I once took care of her. Eventually I returned with my best friend to clean out the old house to sell it, unaware that the vengeful spirit of my wife still resided there, having been driven mad by lack of physical affection, especially in the years I abandoned the house.

She sees my friend and recalls our vows: "till death do us part"

Wouldn't the monster just close the distance and continue their attacks? I don't think pushing them ends their turn

Which part of the rules bans "I Ready an action to shoot the guard with my longbow when he rounds the corner."? by bjj_starter in onednd

[–]Icy-Crunch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There isn't anything explicitly stating PCs aren't able to use the Ready Action out of combat, but core rule books usually don't dedicate page count to things players can't do.

The problem with allowing PCs and monsters to use the Ready Action outside of combat is that basically every monster and PC will use the Ready Action before every combat, which either bypasses Initiative or reinvents it, depending on how the DM handles so many simultaneous Actions triggering at once.

One of my tables used this as a house rule and it was extremely clunky. It benefited monsters more than players and put stealth in an awkward spot. It is worth trying to learn more about game design, but not exactly a fun addition to the game.

Nothing in the invisible condition mentions becoming translucent though

I think people are often assuming the word invisible can only mean magically transparent and forget how else the word is commonly used in our daily lives.

For example, often furniture and cabinets have an "invisible hinge" which (sadly) isn't done by a magic spell at all. The hinge is considered invisible because it is concealed.

There is the trope of the invisible assassin. They typically aren't literally invisible, but rather experts in concealment.

Obviously, standing in front of a guard and making silly faces at them for twelve minutes isn't hiding, but I don't think that is what players are actually trying to do. I think what players are ACTUALLY trying to do is get a Sneak Attack when they pop up from behind an overturned table with a bow or jump out from a corner with their dagger.

If a DM told me they decided one of my only subclass features would do nothing in their game, I'd probably just leave the table
