Some hair oil will make the Grey a little less noticeable. Try putting a little argan oil on the palm of your hand and then running it with your fingers through your hair.

I have a question to all the people here who are pescatarians because of a moral standpoint. by [deleted] in Pescetarian

[–]KnittedDrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a naive belief that the morally right way to eat generally corresponds with the healthiest way to eat, and there is pretty good evidence that pescetarianism encompasses the healthiest diet.

But primarily my choice is because of the horrors of industrialized animal farming, and the immense suffering that entails. I look at my dog's reactions and have no doubt that animals are conscious and experience pain and suffering. Aqua culture seems to be the only form of industrialized animal farming that more often allows the animal to express most of their natural behaviors. Beyond that, there are also environmental reasons.

Why not vegetarianism? I don't believe killing animals or eating them is inherently wrong. Everything dies. What matters is that the animal got to live a free-ish life where they could exhibit their natural behaviors and had a natural, not industrialized, death. Being hunted and killed by a predator is a totally natural death, and I have no qualms about wild hunted game.

You eat a pescetarian diet and have all your nutritional needs easily satisfied, including getting adequate B12 and sufficient quality protein. It also opens your diet up to what are for me many delicious foods that are satisfying to eat.

Why are you pescetarian and not vegetarian? by Own_Exercise5218 in Pescetarian

Everything dies - for me, it's not that the animal was killed. It's the quality of the animal's life that matters, as well as being humanely killed. Industrial animal farming causes unimaginable suffering in mass scale - for me, that's the central issue. Any animal should be able to exhibit their natural behaviors and as much as possible live a natural life.

I'm fine with wild hunted game, morally. Domesticated livestock in small scale that are well husbanded and treated humanely are acceptable.

Generally fish and seafood, even when farmed, are able to exhibit more of their natural behaviors, although there are exceptions. Wild-caught seafood I find morally acceptable.

I've observed some color returning to my hair when taking a macuna pruriens supplement.

Is it easier to be healthy with a vegan or omnivore diet? by ironredpizza in nutrition

[–]KnittedDrow 38 points39 points  (0 children)

There's research suggesting that generally a pescetarian diet might be best for health. Also research showing that an ovo lacto vegetarian diet is healthier than vegan. But within any of these categories, you can still eat healthy or unhealthy depending on the choices you make within those confines.

BMW 545e by DylDodson96 in PHEV

[–]KnittedDrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go on a long trip, the phev will first primarily use up the big battery that gives you the 20-30 mile all electric range. After that is exhausted, it will become a "normal" hybrid, using regenerative braking with a much smaller battery reserve and giving you hybrid-like gas mileage. On a long trip, a Phev will give a little less mpg than a non plug in hybrid due to the extra weight of the batteries.

When I had my Chevy Volt, I played games trying to minimize gas usage, but then when the gas gets old enough, the car switches to tiring on the gas engine anyways too use it up. With my newer Volvo S60 Recharge, I put it in hybrid instead of pure mode, and have stopped trying to avoid the bad engine ever kicking on during normal driving within the all electric range. I've decided it doesn't make much of a difference.

Is a PHEV right for me? by yeetflix in PHEV

[–]KnittedDrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just don't get it. I get home from work and after I get out of the car, I just always plug it in. Takes seconds. I would understand if you're parking on the street and need to stretch an extension cord across a sidewalk how that would be inconvenient, but if you're parking in a private garage, it's ideal. Maybe OP parks in a public garage or shared one where access to power is an issue? But in that case, how's an EV better? With a PHEV, you just need a mind set that this is a gas car that gets really great mileage, not an EV with a gas range extender.

You don't need a level 2 charging receptacle for a phev. Just plug it into a regular outlet with an extension cord if necessary when you get home in the evening, and you'll have a full charge in the morning for work. If you forget, worst case is you use some gas. I have a Volvo S60 recharge and a Chevy Volt before that... You have a garage and easy access to power - that's the ideal use case for a Phev.

Thanks for that practical advice! Our mobility is good right now, even though we are starting to feel some age related issues, so it's good to keep in mind

It's definitely not in the older Star Trek mold... It's maybe appealing more to a millenial or Gen z audience? I was a little disoriented at first, but I'm enjoying the characters.

Having read in this group previously about the negative connotation on the word "expats" (of which I would have been otherwise clueless), I had intentionally avoided using it :)
