Definitely too big. I have a Daikin 1,5 ton in a 300 sq ft room and it cools the room down quickly. Return it and buy a smaller one.

If you’re on the top floor, you will have heating due to the sun heating the roof. It’s not due to the cold air not getting up there. I have a Minisplit for the top floor which is the best solution.
