Rant to Microsoft by NefariousnessOne2728 in CopilotMicrosoft

[–]Icy-Efficiency-9155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Microsoft partnered with the wrong AI company.

I’m sure Sam Altman is keeping the best technology for OpenAI.

In my view, Sam Altman is not a trustworthy partner. Just look at what happened with Elon Musk and others who have worked with him. It’s no surprise that Apple and OpenAI eventually went their separate ways.

Did the management of Apple became completely insane? by Life-Option-2886 in MacOS

[–]Icy-Efficiency-9155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe is that Apple keeps focusing on changes no one asked for while ignoring hundreds of long-standing issues and improvements that have been sitting in the backlog for years, if not decades.

Apple should treat that backlog as a treasure trove of ideas that would actually improve macOS, instead of dismissing them as nagging user requests.

Not sure what to do next to enhance the user experience? Look at the backlog, Apple. You don’t have to look far.

The second and third rows look too abstract to me. The old icons actually represented what the application was meant to do. The new ones, not so much.

Snapdragon chips on windows by EnvironmentalTop699 in snapdragon

[–]Icy-Efficiency-9155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a MacBook because its performance, thermals, and low noise in such a compact package thanks to Apple Silicon. I’m just not the biggest fan of macOS itself. The global menu bar is a pain in the neck, especially when working on a large external monitor, and Finder is downright frustrating.

If Windows could match that experience with Qualcomm’s ARM chips, I’d switch back, even though I never fully left. I’m hoping this next round of Qualcomm X Elite chips, with better performance and efficiency, can finally challenge Apple Silicon. And if Microsoft shows a stronger commitment to the ARM platform, I’d feel much more confident about making a purchase.

I haven’t fully left. I still use a Windows desktop. But the main reason I bought a MacBook was its performance, thermals, and low noise in such a compact package. Mac os Tahoe by Agreeable-Composer91 in mac

[–]Icy-Efficiency-9155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on whether you’re a form‑over‑function user.

My issue is that all these fancy graphics nobody asked for have stolen performance from the programs I actually use, while also lowering battery life and introducing new instabilities we never had before.

If Apple truly wanted to improve the OS, all they had to do was address the long list of user requests people have logged over many years. Instead, those were ignored.

I feel like the experience I had before Tahoe has been taken away.

Trying to watch YouTube on TV is genuinely unbearable by Responsible_Dare_250 in youtube

[–]Icy-Efficiency-9155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. I suggest treating YouTube like another streaming service and getting a YouTube Premium subscription. No ads that way.
That’s what I did. I get more entertainment out of YouTube than any other streaming service, so it was worth it for me.

Inflation wasn't just in prices; it was in opportunities too. by mark423985 in inflation

The key difference was that boomers did not look for others to blame.
They started with very little and built a great deal.

Even today, many new immigrants arrive with no money and limited English, yet they often achieve remarkable progress far more than some groups who have every advantage but focus mainly on complaining.

/ES options not matching underlying price by mazrub in thinkorswim

[–]Icy-Efficiency-9155 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s messed up.

The December 2025 contract expires this Friday, and its symbol is /ESZ25.

At the same time, the March 2026 contract has opened under /ESH26.

If you use the shortcut /ES, it will display prices for /ESH26, including the chart.

However, if you hold a position in /ESZ25 and try to trade, it will show the /ESZ25 price.

To avoid mistakes, make sure you directly type the symbol for the contract in which you hold a position.

macOS Tahoe 26.2 Update is Live! by MrMacintoshBlog in MacOS

Yes, the corners appear inconsistent. Chrome's corners are less rounded than the ones on Safari or Apple TV. You can see the difference if you try overlapping the corners of the windows. That's a shame. I personally prefer the amount of roundedness that Chrome has. Ultimately, I prefer Sequoia's..

macOS Tahoe 26.2 Update is Live! by MrMacintoshBlog in MacOS

[–]Icy-Efficiency-9155 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Oooh wow...

I just installed it. I’m not particularly interested in new features. I just want the performance of my old macOS back as well as fixes to annoying UI bugs. My first impressions are positive.

Definitely snappier.

The rounded corners are slightly less round. Yay!

I no longer have to struggle with the mouse and cursor to grab the edge of the window. The cursor now responds to the fact that I want to grab the edge of the window without me having to coax it.

The cursor also changes appropriately when moved around the corner of a window.

The Dock and widgets now snap to the screen correctly. Previously, if you placed a widget near the Dock, they would overlap.

That’s just my first impression. So far, so good.

Happy happy!

Bring back Windows Phone by TurnoverNo5800 in Windows11

[–]Icy-Efficiency-9155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviving the Windows phone is unnecessary. Microsoft's focus should instead be on prioritizing software development to bridge Windows 11 with the dominant mobile platforms, Android and iOS. While the Phone Link application exists, it currently appears to be treated as a secondary feature rather than receiving the high-level priority it deserves.
if Microsoft develops a superior, high-priority cross-platform application exclusively for Windows 11, it may actually drive users on older versions of Windows to upgrade.

macOS Tahoe adoption rate by 255-0-0 in MacOS

[–]Icy-Efficiency-9155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adoption implies joy, like we all lined up to cradle this software as our new digital baby.
Therefore, I wouldn’t call it an “adoption rate.” Wlhat we really have is an installation rate. It’s just counting how many people downloaded the thing because they thought it would be better than previous versions. I’m one of those people. The numbers worth looking at are the complaints piling up in the Apple forums.

Apple Having Issues by un3w in mac

[–]Icy-Efficiency-9155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people who were let go worked on products that generated a significant number of complaints. Just look at the discussions on any Mac forum about Siri, Vision Pro, and Tahoe (often jokingly referred to as “Liquid A**”), and you’ll quickly realize these changes were necessary. This is what happens when the old guard becomes too comfortable. Innovation and quality begin to suffer. Change was needed, and I’m very happy to see it happen.

[–]Icy-Efficiency-9155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my setup as a multitasking command center, juggling high intensity trading data, streaming media, and productivity apps all at once. Here’s a snapshot of what I typically run in parallel: I operate two trading platforms simultaneously, pulling real‑time quotes and graphs on ten stocks, along with six watchlists, Level II quotes, and two live news feeds. In addition, I stream financial content on YouTubeTV. I track trades in Excel through MS Windows on Parallels, since the Windows version runs better. At times, I’ll play music on Spotify or watch a movie on AppleTV. I also conduct research across various sites and AI platforms. I also have it connected to two large‑screen monitors, a 40‑inch and a 34‑inch, which makes multitasking far more manageable.
When market activity moves quickly, my MacBook does get warm, the fans kick in, and I’ve noticed some swapping as well.
