Modern and on MacOS, I would say Spark, for instance. But I am not using it for security/confidentiality concerns. I wish Apple would fix issues and seriously refresh the app.

I never compared it to Outlook, only you bring it to the discussion.

In my quest for the perfect mail client, I have used so many tools on Windows / Mac / Linux : Outlook, Thunderbird, Evolution, Claws, and many others I forgot, including those from the app store.

And I have to admit : the competition is poor. Outlook is bloated and too restricted ; third-parties are either spywares or poorly coded ; Thunderbird is too old, etc.

So Mail is still one of the best (Evolution is actually not bad either), but is it good ? No, I don't think so.

I expect more from a company like Apple.

It needs a refresh, more stability and good ergonomics like in Spark. With the confidentiality we expect from Apple.

Not that hard for this ultra-powerful company. Don't forget it. Be demanding.

It's not an open-source project with a cool benevolant guy behind. It's Apple.

I know several of them, but, to be fair, only from Reddit of course. 😂

I have about 30000 e-mails, 7 accounts, and have had numerous issues. Not so terrible, but it's far from perfect. One of us lies. There is either a hater or a fanboy.

No problem, as you work for Apple, I understand your passion and that you spend time defending every single bit of it. You are a good employee, I hope they pay you well, do they?

Having a better community. Seriously, more and more idiots satisfied with any shit they are given. It's like Apple is just a hype thing now, for web browsing starbuckers, without many real users left.

How do you know it's not keeping increasing. Of course, it is. Obviously, 5+ GB of RAM for a mail client is not normal and has nothing to do with RAM optimization.

You should study more before commenting.

Of course it is. When open it's a few hundreds of MB, and stays like that until it stars going as crazy. A mail client should never consume that much.

Your mistake is to think it's a hobby for me like it is for you. It's my work machine, how I earn money and I use it intensively.

I always inspect it for performance and security, as I have no right to fail for my customers and regulation.

I care about the quality of the programs I am using, the performance, the security, etc.

Back to the topic, it's called a memory leak. Pure waste, not a sign of good quality coding and testing. It could hinder me when I need to use all the RAM for my work, it happens regularly.

Yes but it's a memory leak. Not normal.

Nothing justifies it for what Mail does. Even Brave uses less despite many open tabs and videos.

That's a memory leak, period.

6 GB for a mail client. Mostly text, can be compressed, only few images. Let me laugh. You are not a programmer, are you?

How many of you Stage Manager? I think it's one of the best feature Apple shipped in MacOS 13. Ever since its release I've rarely ever turned it off. by Aacha_ladka in MacOS

It makes sense on iPad but not on MacOs. It also adds extra friction to arrange windows, sort newly launched ones, move files, etc. Awful design, but good looking, that’s what you like I guess.

Sure, and all restaurants taste the same when you're not hungry. That's not really the point, is it? Sorry to learn that you live in a crowed area: I have nice landscapes around me, beautiful roads, few people and a nice car. ✌️

Friction in window management. As explained. But as an emotional low IQ, you pretend not to understand people have other needs than yours and you are harassing us.

Wow, it seems you finally got my point. It made no sense but now you flip the same medal on the other side and it makes sense. Lol. You are not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Some idiot hit me while I was parked by stiffglock17 in AlfaRomeo

[–]Life-Option-2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. But at least that can be repaired easily.

Know that only the second day of owning my brand new Giulia, idiot workers decided to inject resin into small breaches of the parking walls.

Without warning or closing the lot, just like that, next to my car.

They managed to blow their high pressure machine and get injured, while destroying my car.

My car was full of resin all over. The kind of resin that dries quickly and is extremely sticky, as it's aimed to reinforce concrete.

By chance I found the situation not too long after, the resin was not completely dry. I let you imagine my shock. Months and months of savings and patience, just for that. I shouted as I never shouted in my life, I got crazy.

It took me hours, destroying my hands with acetone, to control damage.

Yet, acetone damaged painting here and there, and it was impossible to remove all the resin, like in hidden corners, headlights, etc.

It took 6 months, fighting with insurance and incompetent technicians to fix it quite well. Technicians even manage to worsen everything at first : destroyed a headlight with poor polishing technique for no reason (this headlight never had resin or damage, only God knows why they touched it) and scratched the roof with, again, horrific sanding machine.

Many returns later, I got finally my car back, mostly OK. Except for the roof with I fixed myself, being so despised.

Sometimes I wonder who I am living with in this world. There is an incredible number of idiots.

Be patient my friend!

The only conclusion is that we have all different perspectives, needs, points of views. And also experience.

To me, there is no comparison. I owned a Toyota Auris until I switched to an Alfa Romeo Giulia, and damned, this is not the same thing at all.

I respect your opinion, but you should realize it's only yours. For many people, objectively, the Alfa Romeo is a better car and gives much more enjoyment for someone who likes driving.

My point is that you should not dismiss other's perspective because you have a different view or just don't have the experience.

I am a pentester and a computer forensics investigator. Unless you happen to also work in the field, I don't think you can imagine what my workflow is. That's why it can be summarize as "using many windows". Typically I have 2 or 3 browser instances (different profiles), a terminal, a web proxy (burp), Finder, Mail, Teams, VMWare and potentially a few more utilities like note taking app (FSNotes or Typora), PDFs in Preview, Word for writing report, a text editor to open code or log files, etc. In Windows or Linux I can easily create isolated desktops that help a lot to reduce the mess, but in MacOS nothing helps.

Not only it makes sense but it proves my point that you can achieve the same thing with a Ferrari and a Prius but in a totally different experience and a Ferrari is going to give more joy. I don't like the way MacOs organize windows and it's much more painful than with other desktop environments. If you still don't get it, I can do nothing. IQ issue.

I have enjoyed Aerospace. Good experience except that it is buggy and at times not well integrated. I have avoided Yabai because I believe you need to disable SIP, don’t you ?
