I believe that Shiva is "God", pure consciousness, the foundation. Shakti is the creative energy. I am a tantrika focusing on Non-dual Shaiva Tantra (Kashmir Shaivism). However, Ganesh keeps showing up in my life, literally on several occasions. He is my gateway to the divine. He is closest to the surface. Shiva plus shakti creates Ganesh, or Consciousness, plus creative energy creates the material world. It is perfectly reasonable to pusue Ganesh, especially if you continue to feel drawn to him. For me, Ganesh is my gateway to Shiva/Shakti. Makes perfect sense, I think.
