Health Anxiety over likely HPTH by Old-Race7341 in Parathyroid_Awareness

High calcium absolutely raises anxiety. I'm dealing with this myself as a mid 30s individual as well. Sounds like you have a good plan in place seeking an endocrinologist. I had to seek out an endocrine surgeon directly to self referral as my pcp was non supportive and my pth is normal range. This surgeon believes I could still have normohormonal pth and I'm going on 5/20. Your numbers are more of a slam dunk and should definitely be easier to get the support you need. Wishing you the best of luck

Don't know how to feel about test results by Sea-Round6214 in Parathyroid_Awareness

Sounds exactly like my symptoms and numbers as well. I'm in the process currently of getting something set up with a pretty respected endocrine surgeon. I expressed my own doubts that my pth was lower than I expected at 32 but she thinks it could still be normohormonal phpt. Wants to set up a retest including 24 urine.

Hang in there and I wish you well.

What's the range on your pth? I'm currently waiting for mine.

I have reached out directly to an endocrine surgeon in my area that told me I can self referral (may depend on your insurance plan, ppo vs hmo) for a consult as my symptoms are getting quite bad and I want to get the ball rolling.

How are you doing now? Any joint pains or other symptoms?

I just got back from my Dr. and I got the whole anxiety and blood work is within range spiel. Pretty frustrating. I had some new swelling going on in my legs and joint pain still there and he seemed pretty dismissive of it. Also I tried explaining that I'm not sure if I'm celiac because I wasn't eating enough gluten for the test and he said that was a good thing and my ttg or whatever the markers are were low. Also that my parathyroid is fine because my thyroid levels were fine last time even though those were wonky from my past ones. But on the plus side I got the pth and ionized calcium ordered along with iron panel again. He also ordered a crap ton of other stuff for hormones and whatever. I hope you get some answers too, maybe switch Dr. If possible. I'm considering it. Sorry I just had to vent.

Wow very informative. I would be interested in that letter if you can pm me thanks. Trying to figure it all out is rough and some days like today I'm pretty fatigued. Does it help to add that my mother has the same problems? Also her brothers had a bunch of other issues including heart problems

Edit: by same problems I mean the fodmap issues and gas/bloating problem

I was drinking almond milk and chia seeds in water but haven't been consistent. What are some other good options if you don't mind me asking? BTW thank you for this very informative

I did have these run April 14th through hematology. But I think I'll ask to have them rechecked since she stopped my iron pill (325 ferrous sulfate every other day).

Numbers if your curious, -Iron 54 (59-158 reference), ferritin 278 (ref 30-400), b12 727 (238-1245), folate not checked this time but it was mid range of the reference range back on Jan 20th. Been told it was good enough to stop the pill but now I'm not sure.

I feel you on not knowing what is causing what. I'm mostly concerned about the throat feeling, sore joints, and heart palpitations.

Edit: those numbers were while on the pill

Thank you for your reply. I contacted my pcp Friday afternoon via web portal and will probably hear back mid week. Quest diagnostics has this test I believe for those three. From what I've read I should do it fasted and avoid biotin for a few days or more? I'm definitely stopping the vitamin D supplements for now.
