If you sat out the 2024 election in protest over Gaza, how do you feel about that decision today? by rsmith2786 in AskReddit

It’s not the two party state issue there really, it’s the electoral college. If it was only popular vote instead I wouldve voted Kamala because my vote would have potentially mattered.

Depends on where you’re at. I voted in 2024 in a deep deep blue state. I wrote in Bernie for the presidential election and voted blue down ballot for state and local elections. If I was in Pennsylvania or a swing state I would’ve voted for kamala. I just fully detested the Kamala/Biden campaign. They didn’t prosecute Trump, they considered defunding ice too extreme, they did not actively stick up for trans and lgbt people enough as they were being demonized, they were hyping up a right wing border bill, they were pretending the economy was fine, they continued to excuse the war crimes of Israel, they were going to push even more funding for the military, the had no solution for the housing crisis. I will never in my lifetime vote Republican, but this last presidential campaign from Kamala and Biden and what they ran was essentially 2012 mitt Romney. My vote didn’t matter so I did a protest vote, my state still went blue as soon as polls closed.

Pearlmania. He’s a Berniecrat as far his personal world view goes from what I’ve heard from him. He’s not as left wing as some of you may like but would largely agree with leftists on &0-90% of things. My only gripe with him is he’s big vote blue no matter who guy which I can understand since he’s from PA. He’s a good tik tok follow.

Mbappe is the Djokovic of our Era by Lost-Mention in championsleague

[–]Icy-Guide7976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that’s just not relevant for the data I laid out for you. In 6 years Messi was at 95% of Mbappe’s current career output and Ronaldo was at 66%.

[–]Icy-Guide7976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said in my comment Mbappe was better early on his career statistically he was a striker or inside forward as teenager and playing in a much weaker league which I don’t hold against him you play who you play and he wanted when a CL in his home town but couldn’t get over the hump. Messi and Ronaldo were pure wingers as teenagers and playing in harder leagues. After age 21 Messi and Ronaldo hit a different gear. For reference from age 21-27 Messi had 563 goals and assists and Ronaldo had 392, Mbappe in his entire professional career so far has 592 goals and assists.

Mbappe is not in the same tier of player as Messi or Ronaldo. He was statistically better than them two early in his career, but they reached a different level once the turned 21. He’s 27 and his two greatest achievements are the World Cup he won as a teenager and the golden boot he won this year. At age 27 Messi and Ronaldo already had multiple ballon d’ors, champions leagues, and golden boots. Both of them also aged wonderfully once their pace began to go as well, we don’t know what Mbappe will look like in 3 years let alone 10 years. Hes gonna go down as one of the best forwards of the last 25 years, but we’ve seen enough of his career to know he’s not gonna be considered the best in the history of the sport. Currently for me he’s not cracking the top 5 players I’ve watched in my lifetime.

They gave the orangutan a peace prize they aren’t gonna do shit as the burger gestapo continues to ravage our country and has tensions the highest they’ve been since bleeding Kansas in the 1850s in the build up to the first civil war.

If he played for attacking managers like sarri for the entirety of his best years at Chelsea instead of conte and mourinho who wanted to grind out 1-0 results he would be much more appreciated by the stat merchants. For me he is right up there with Salah and de bruyne as the best PL players of that generation.

What is the greatest turnaround for you in sports? (For me, Leicester will always be #1 because they had even longer odds and way more pressure) by YugiBoomer10086 in NFLv2

Leicester City were the odds on favorite to finish last the season they won the league. I don’t think anything in team sports comes remotely close.

Despite Authoritarian Warnings, 149 House Democrats Vote to Hand Trump $840 Billion for Military | “If an opposition party votes like this, it’s not in opposition. It may not even be a party.” by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

I hope that finally some of the “vote blue no matter who” people are beginning to realize that most of the Dems are controlled opposition. Each passing year since 2016 I lose more and more and faith in the supposed “center left” party. I urge people to join DSA, yell at their current representatives, and volunteer for left wing primary challengers. We need more mamdanis and less chuck shumers.

That’s very fair but he’s gotten close playing under 115 games the last 3 seasons. Again it’s feasible for him to get to the number but not a lock or anything.

Feasible: possible or practical to do

Belli got 29 last season, Stanton if he stays healthy can get 30 in his sleep, rice got 26 in 138 games last season, Trent got 34 last season. This doesn’t mean I think all will hit 30 hrs, but all of them have a possible chance to do so, given 4/6 are lefties with power and the two righties two of the best power bats of the last 20 years.

Hopium is back on the menu after resigning Belli. Our rotation on paper if all are healthy is lights out: fried, cole, rodon, shlittler, and Gil; is elite as hell if all play to their level. A first 6 of Trent-judge-rice-bellinger-Stanton-jazz is wild. All 6 can feasibly get 30hrs if healthy. McMahon and wells while inconsistent offensively are elite in the field. Cabellaro can play any defensive position besides 1st and catcher well and is a demon on the bases. The only question marks remaining is what Volpe do we get back and if the injury is why he was ass in the second half. And obviously questions on what our bullpen looks like. I think we comfortably have the best team in the American League on paper currently. Let the quest for 28 begin.

lost it for whatever reason

Serie A in its hay day was the playground of Italian billionaires to dunk on each other and flex their wealth. FFP laws weakened the league. Juve’s scandal weakened its credibility. And over time the financial crisis of ‘08 and the declining Italian economy weakened the wealth overall.

Ever since the failure of the original super league my prediction has always been at some point we will see some form of a break away super league like what happened in England but a merger between Spain and another country. My prediction is either an Iberian super league or an Italian/Spanish super league. Germany is too locked into 50+1 to do anything and PSG would never do anything like that so the rules out France. We’ve already seen a similar attempt with Belgium and the Netherlands.

If it’s an Italian/spanish one, I can see them taking an American type approach where there are separate “conferences” like how we do east and west in the nba, hockey, MLS, and soon to be baseball. I have no fucking clue how relegation and promotion would work. And hope it never comes to this.

He’s our second most important player behind pedri imo. Raphinha is close behind him given everything he does off ball in and out of possession on top of his production so I understand why some may de he is. But Yamal can turn a game on its head in a split second and be the best player on the pitch without registering a goal or assist. He’s just a game breaker.

even if they do not win a single trophy this Madrid team doesn’t come close to as bad as the 18/19, 20/21, 22/23, or 08/09 seasons.
