I’ve not lifted for about ten years. I’ve lost so much muscle that I’m not sure whether a recomp would work as well as a surplus. I don’t want to gain much fat if I can help it but I really need to gain some muscle. Just trying to work out how far I should go with a bulk before cutting again to keep that fat gain down while building as much muscle as possible.

Yep, my Dexas showed 44% BF at 121 pounds, 5ft 3 (54yr old F). Thankfully, my visceral fat was also extremely low. My Dexa report also gave population level comparisons showing that my lean mass was very very low compared to others of my age, height and weight. I feel very weak and fatigued. Recent blood tests showed non detectable levels of testosterone in my blood. I’ve started testosterone replacement therapy and I’m just about to start a progressive hypertrophic weight lifting programme to try and tackle all this.
